"Oh come on."
Aoi gently nudged Kuro's arm.
"We both know you did not do that."
Kuro hesitated for a moment
but the class president's warm smile
pushed him on.
"My father got drunk last night
and hit me here."
He pointed to the bruise near his eye.
"And here?"
A dainty finger pointed
at his elbow.
"I saved a kid this morning
who was nearly knocked down by a car."
"That sounds more like it!"
And there was silence,
as the conversation ended.
But the silence was comfortable.
for the duo enjoyed each other's company
with the breeze gently brushing past them.
