And he dreamed


of familiar places

of beautiful flowers

flowers from the little stall

next to his pathetic new house


There he bought a rose,

a red rose

blooming so beautifully with the rest of the flowers around it.


And he paid with his allowance.

Leaving just enough for a bread

from the convenience store down the street.

A bread that would need to last him

for breakfast

and

lunch


But it was okay.

That day was okay,

for it was a special occasion.
