Most people start their mornings off with a stretch, a good breakfast and a nice hot shower. Apparently, I wasn't most. Because my morning started off with a bang. Literally.

The bed was a blissful paradise and it felt as though it were made of the fluffiest of clouds. Thankfully, none of me was sore from the tryouts the day before. I had woken peacefully as I slowly came to consciousness, then decided I could close my eyes for a few more minutes. I didn't have to be anywhere, did I? Nah.

I was happy with my own conclusion to that until my bedroom door opened and made a large bang! sound as it hit the wall. I snapped to attention and was reaching for the gun I slept with beneath my pillow.

"Morning Dani!", an overly cheerful voice said, chasing away whatever possibility was left of me sleeping in. I adjusted my eyes to the sudden harsh light that came from the sun as the curtains opened. "Geez, you're like a vampire. And don't hiss at me", the voice chided.

"Andie?" I released the gun and kept it hidden beneath the pillow, rubbing my eyes as I sat up. The brunette came over and sat down on the bed, making it bounce a bit. "What are you doing here? What time is it?"

"It is..." She checked her watch. "Six am." My eyes were definitely open now as I felt my eyebrows shoot up to my hairline.

"What on earth possessed you to wake up at this time? Don't you have school?"

"Not for another three hours. That's plenty of time."

"For what?" I wasn't normally one to complain, but being abruptly awoken by a strangely peppy girl at six am could do that to a person. Especially to this person, who valued sleep over almost anything.

"To go on a run! It was Dylan's idea. He's got the paintball team waiting outside to get going." Of course he does. I noticed for the first time that she was wearing grey jogging pants and a purple hoodie with her hair up in a ponytail. "We're just waiting for you, so come on!"

I groaned and fell back onto the bed. "Why didn't anyone tell me this?"

"It was a last-minute decision made last night. We would've called but didn't want to wake you."

"And yet, you'll wake me up at six in the morning?" Her nod wasn't the answer I was looking for. I stared at the unmoving ceiling fan. "Do I have to? And isn't practice on Saturday?"

"Yes, you do. And we have to get a start on training. Let's go, sleepyhead. Be downstairs in five minutes."

"Fifteen", I argued back. No way I could be ready in five minutes.

"Ten, or I'm going to bring the guys up here and get them to drag you downstairs." Andie crossed her arms and looked down at me. Her tone left no room for arguments.

"You can be as annoying as your brother sometimes, you know that?"

"Runs in the family." She grinned at me then skipped to the door. "Come on, ten minutes." Then she disappeared down the hall humming a tune.

How anyone could be up at six am, be humming of all things and going on a jog was beyond me. Sure I'd done it a couple of times, but it was by choice. And unless I wanted my ass chewed out for not going, I didn't really have one.

So I dragged myself out of bed, had a feeling I wouldn't be seeing it for the rest of the day, then quickly made it and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Then I hid my gun in the dresser and put on black jogging shorts, a sports bra and a green t-shirt. I grabbed a hoodie just in case.
