I woke up and I was at home laying in my bedroom. The walls were the same baby blue as they were before. I sat up and it felt as though my head was spinning around in circles. I looked down at my mocha-colored carpet to see that all of my multicolored applications for jobs I was applying for were gone.
Great, just another thing to go wrong.
I stood up and began walking My legs were shaking as if I haven't walked in days. I walked out of my bedroom and began to stumble. That is when I felt a vigorous pounding in my head, I moved my hand to where it was pounding and I felt stitches. I sat down and cried.
What did I do so wrong to be treated like this? I am a good person and I don't deserve getting beat up on a daily basis at school.
I then heard the front door close. I wiped away my tears to see my mom standing in the entry way with a handful of groceries.
"You're finally awake!" She said kicking of her shoes and putting down the groceries. The next thing I knew I was in a tight embrace.
"Ugh, how long have I been asleep?" I asked trying to peel her arms off of me. She let go and replied with," You have been asleep for 2 days. Its Friday so you woke up just in time!"
"In time for what exactly?" I said while looking at my outfit. I was wearing the same thing I was wearing the day I got beat up. Black skinny jeans, a superman shit with red suspenders."
"Your dad and I are going to take you to to the mall, you know the one where that one comic book store is that you like?" She said grabbing the bag of groceries putting them away.
"NO WAY! let me get ready." I said sprinting to my bedroom. This is the first time in months that I have been to the comic book store. I have been saving up my money for it too! I have well over 100 dollars to spend so, I'll get a good amount of comics. I threw open my door and pulled open my dresser drawer. I grabbed my Batman leggings, my Batman shirt with a cape on it and my black Converses to complete the outfit.
After I finished putting on my clothing I sprinted back out where my mom was and I saw my dad sitting in a chair. I ran up to him and said thank you several times and he just looked confused. I walked into the kitchen to see my mom.
"Mom I'm ready to go!" I said trying to get her to hurry with putting the groceries away.
"Okay, tell your dad to start the car and I'll be ready in a minute," She said putting the paper bag in the trashcan. I ran out and my dad must've already heard what mom said because he was already out to the car and it was running. I grabbed my bat-signal purse, shoved my money in the big pocket and walked out to the car. I hopped into the backseat and pulled my phone and headphones out and began to listen to music.
"Are you ready to go Ava?" My dad sad typing the address for the mall into the GPS.
I pulled out my earphones and said," More then I'll ever be! I've been waiting for months to come back, I've already read all the comics I have now. I want to get some Teen Titan, New Mutants, The Death Of Superman and many other comic books."
He just laughed," I never thought you'd be into comic books, I was exactly like you when I was your age." He stopped talking when my mom entered the car.
"Teresa, do you have everything?" He asked as he shifted the car in reverse.
"No Dave, let's go!" Mom said with slight enthusiasm in her voice.
I put my earbuds back into my ears and the song that was playing was The Drug In Me Is You by Falling In Reverse. I smiled and leaned onto the car window and began slowly drifting off to the lyrics of the song.
I heard a knock upon my door the other day
I opened it to find death staring in my face
The feel of mortal stalking still reverberates
Everywhere I go I drag this coffin just in case
**Time Lapse**
I woke up to see that we were at the mall already. I immediately jumped up and grabbed my bag and sprinted into the mall.
"I guess we will meet up with you then," I heard my mom yell after me.
I ran into the mall straight to the comic book store. It was called Circas Comics. They had the best comics for the best prices.
I walked into the store and that was when I saw Him.
