The war has ended but our fight continues

Telling uncle Alfie

"I kind of know Tommy" I said as I saw the look on his face but I knew he was pgoing to push it farther. "How Do you know him?" He asked just like I knew he would he knows that I'd tell him but if I lied to him then he'd know.  "I used to date Thomas before I left four years ago." I said as I lifted up my head to see his reaction is. Nothing his reaction is blank I can't read it it not a bad thing but it's not a good thing either. I'll have to see where this goes. "Uncle Alfie are you alright?" "Yeah I'm fine" He said with a blank face it's not a bad thing it is not a good thing either. Are you sure you look like your about to kill someone uncle Alfie" I asked with concern "Well that depends on one thing" He said getting his gun out. "What would that be?" I asked with a confused look "You two weren't. . . You know?" "What sexually together no we wanted to wait until we were married he had just gotten back from the war. It's was a long time ago and I don't have feelings for Tommy like that any more. I told him which is true and a little bit of a lie I do still have feelings for Tommy and I don't at the same time it really frustrating but yet I can't help but wonder what our life would have been like if I did say yes and I ran off to be with him. I probably could have had a simple life happy little family wonderful husband couple of kids one on the way maybe sure they would be fighting between me and told me but we always make it through no matter what problems we went through but it would have been Financial or family issues or even what the business is always made it through we've been there for each other and love each other to the fact that we would be able and still love each other more than ever before. "It doesn't matter now he's married and has a child on the way" My uncle said as h breaks me out of my daydream. "What did you say sorry I wasn't listening" I said as I'm brought back to reality. "Yes sure you weren't but yes Tommy is married and has a child on the way." He said as he goes back to work. I shouldn't be surprised because I didn't expect him to wait for me. But I feel like my heart was shattered into a million pieces. I feel like dying. "Oh well good for him I'm happy for him." "Good because I don't want you around the lot like them" "I won't I have no reason to be around them anyways" I said as he leaned back in his chair.  "Really From where I was standing you were all little too close to that boy John Shelby  I don't want you around him or his family who knows what trouble he'll get you into" He said as I go to the front of the bakery and help the other employees. "Yeah ok whatever you say Beta I know your lying." He said calling me by he said using the nickname he had for me.  I laughed as I took the customer's order for three loafs of bread.
