19 | Talks About Grief

"Percy!" A voice called as I crossed from the big house to the Hephaestus Cabin that currently had smoke coming out the chimney so people were probably working in the bunker which was good for me because then I didn't have to go find a son or daughter of the forge good and ask them to make me a whole batch of weapons 

Stupid ADHD making me go off track

Any way I spin around to see a  certain brown-headed, green-eyed demigod who is the head counsellor in charge of cabin four running at me and when she gets to me she squishes me in a bone-crushing hug and eventually I had to pull away "C-Can't ... B-Breath" I gasp and Katie reluctantly lets me go

"Sorry" She replies sheepishly "I just can't believe your back...Is it really you? Perce people said you were back because of a prophecy but I didn't believe them because  most of the new campers are jerks and I missed you" During the Giant War Katie and I had grown a lot closer she knew what it was like to lose someone because Conner died in the War and Travis was so grief-stricken that he didn't want to talk to anyone not even Katie and eventually he broke it off with her leaving her heartbroken

"It's okay, and yes I'm here how are things with Travis right now," I ask softly

"Still not talking to anyone but at least he's eating I never thought I would say this but I miss the old Travis the one that would pull pranks on me just to get my attention and grin cheekily at me when I told him off until I was blue in the face but I'm scared that version of Travis is gone because he hasn't been the same since Conner died," She says sadly, her voice barely a whisper and I pulled her into a tight hug as a sob racked through her body "I'm losing him Percy more and more every day" 

"I know Kat I know how it feels but you've gotta hold on and you have to keep trying for you and for Travis," I say softly and she looks up at me surprise lighting up her wide brown eyes and she slaps me lightly on the shoulder with a chuckle 

"When did you get so wise Kelpy?" Katie asks disbelief lacing her tone

I smile wistfully and sadly "Annabeth must've rubbed off on me," I say

"She was the smartest girl at Camp," Katie says with a sad smile to match my own but for once I'm only filled with happy memories of Annabeth and I and not sad ones that make me want to join her like I usually am "Percy I'm only just noticing but who are these people," Asked Katie raising an eyebrow in suspicion and it jogs my memory that the mortals are still behind me and when I turn around they all have bored and confused looks on their faces all except Thor Odion  and Wanda Maximoff legacy of Hecate 

"These are the mortals that feature in the new Prophecy about me," I say dryly "Most of them are Mortals anyway one of them is a Norse demigod son of Odin" I point to Thor who gives Katie and shy wave "and the girl with the brown hair around our age is a legacy of Hecate" I explain pointing to Wanda who doesn't do anything

Katie nods "Alright cool, well I've got to go I'll try again with Travis stay alive and maybe I'll see you again" She half-jokes flashing me a smile in which I return before running off to the Hermes cabin 

"Alright weapons you need weapons let's see if Shane is able to help" I mutter to myself

"Thank for your help Shane," I say to him as I walk out of cabin nine

"No problem Percy" Shane the head counsellor for cabin nine says back to me. After Leo died and before I left Shane became the new head for cabin nine because he was the oldest and had been on a minor quest for The Gods between the time of The Second Titan War and The Giant War

"Can we go home now" Tony whines like a child for the third time in five minutes 

"I guess, we did get what we came for but let me say goodbye to Chiron and Katie first," I say to them and they all nod except for Tony who just snickers into his hand  like a child again and I turn to him and glare which immediately shuts him up

"Is Katie your--"

"Katie is not my girlfriend" I growl through gritted teeth "Annabeth was and hades if I was going to tarnish my memory of her in that way plus Katie used to have a boyfriend who she is still madly in love with so neither of us would betray our partners in that way" I give Tony one last glare before I walk away to try and find my mentor and a certain brown/blonde headed demigod 

I saw Chiron first "Hi Chiron I just want to tell you I'm leaving but I promise I will be back and visit you soon if I survive but if not I want you to know you were the best mentor I could possible ask for training me for whatever prophecy was thrown my way even though I knew I wasn't the easiest child to train as well as being a fatherly figure for me when Poseidon couldn't be there" By the end of my speech Chiron had more than a few tears glistening in his eyes and he pulled me into a hug

"Percy my boy it has been an honour watching you grow and train and I am deeply sorry about what the fates put you through in the past year but you know how to take it and don't crumble under the pressure like many hero's before you have done," He says wistfully and I smile just a little before he got pulled away by another camper leaving me alone in the big house

"Bye Chiron" I whisper before going off to try and find Katie
