"Thank you so much Amy! I know it's earlier then I asked. You're a life saver!" I said as she stood in front of my desk. I had called Amy in to take care of Jason as the Chief needed me to finish this article tonight.

"Oh no worries at all Lois! We're going to have so much fun, right Jason?" She said grabbing his hand. He shook his head at her and they started to walk towards the elevator. Jason turned his head around and gave me a sad look. I couldn't help but feel bad. I quickly shook the feeling from my face.

"I'll come by to get him at around 11-ish", I yelled at her as they waved back at me. I sat back down in my chair and slipped on my glasses, focusing all my energy into this new piece.

----

"Hey guys, Chief says he wants everyone in the meeting room ASAP. Says he's got a new upcoming project", I snapped out of my daze to see Jimmy standing between my desk and Clark's.

"Yeah I think I already know what it's about. Tell him I'll sit this one out", I said looking down at my watch, which read 8:49 pm. "Alright I'll be right back". I slipped off my glasses and grabbed my purse from my bottom desk drawer. I could feel the tension build up in my shoulders. I needed a break. As I walked towards the eleveators, I could hear my coworkers sputter guesses on the meeting.

"Maybe the chief wants to fire someone—"

"He's probably kicking out the fashion column, I heard they haven't been doing well—"

"Hopefully the layout of the paper is getting changed—"

I couldn't help but laugh a little at the big surprise they will be getting. If it's true that Superman is back, then the world would soon be receive this surprise.

As I entered the elevator and pressed the top deck, I rested a cigarette in my mouth. Even though it wasn't lit, I could feel the tension in my back already starting to relax. I promised myself that I would quit one day but right now in this stressful world, all I wanted as a damn cigarette. I opened up the door to the outside of the Daily Planet, greeted by a giant gust of February wind. I could see my breathing form little puffs of smoke. I rubbed my arms trying to warm them up before I would freeze to death. I reached into my purse and grabbed out my lucky lighter.  I flicked the lighter and a small orange flame was produced, dancing in the wind.

"Hello Ms. Lane" I stopped dead in my tracks. I felt my stomach start to churn and my heart beat start racing again. I turned to see a tall man with a red cape and blue tights, with his arms folded across his chest, smiling down at me.

"You're back" I said nervously. I justified to myself that it's just because it's cold out. But I secretly knew that my nerves were from seeing him.

"Its good to see you again Lois", He said walking towards me. I felt the sudden urge to jump into his arms. But I remembered, he left me when I needed him the most. He left when the world still needed him as well. All of a sudden, anger started to boil inside me.

"You left without any warning or a goodbye", I said chattering my teeth. I realized that I still had not ignited my cigarette.

"I have some explaining to do and I am very sorry". I had to crane my neck up to see his face. He placed both of his hands on my shoulders and I instantly felt warmth. I slowly brought my hand towards his chest and lightly touched the big S.

"A lot has happened since you've left", I said starting to tear up. I felt his arms wrap around my back, my body drowned with heat now. I quickly sucked in my breath to hopefully hold the tears from falling.

"Again, I am terribly sorry I had to leave", He said into my ear. I pulled free and straightened my posture. This man had my heart and I felt hurt.
