Understanding Each Other (Edited)

Tanner's POV

I got back as soon as possible with takeout in my hand. I got to the room before and found out my mate just got out of surgery. I put down the box on a stand and checked my mate. His eyes closed shut and his breathing is light with nose oxygen added to his face. His heart is steady with his breathing. 

Amber comes in and takes the nose oxygen off and checks his vitals. 

"He should be waking up soon. Go ahead and feed him when he does," she says to me before leaving

I nod understanding and took a seat by him with a box near me.

I waited and waited. It started getting late and the sunsetted.

I was starting to question if my mate was ok.

Then I heard a gasp. I looked up and saw my mate block the light above him.
He looked outside realizing the time and then sees the handcuffs on his arm connecting to his bed to keep him from running. Especially now since he needs to heal or else he is going to undo everything they have done.

"Great..." he mumbles, good thing I have werewolf hearing. I just watch him. Trying to watch what he does.

He looks at the heart monitor and the wires. He groans out and closes his eyes. I think he's trying to shift... but nothing happens as of course Amber left some medicine in the iv bag.

He then gasps and panics about not shifting I bet. The heart monitor beats faster to confirm that. But him hearing the heart monitor must of scared him even more.

He turns towards it and tried to talk to it like a person, "shhhhh you need to calm down machine!" He whisperers at it

I decided to speak up and pick up the leftover box, "You know. That machine is only listening to your heart. So in order to calm that down, you need to calm down yourself"

He turns and saw me. He takes deep breaths and started calming himself down 

"Thank you," he says

"No problem... I got you food," I say proudly

That got him to lick his lips

"Really?" He questions

I nod my head and opened the box and put it in front of him. Revealing the cheeseburger

"Thank you, Tanner, really I'm so grateful for this." He speaks with compassion before digging in right away. Making a mess. I giggle a little at him.

"mhh so good." He moans out

Which causes my wolf to stir awake. Causing me to lowly growl and my wolf chatting over and over again

'Mate mate mate'

He stops eating and looks at me. I put my hand on my face so I could hide my black eyes from him

"sorry Justine... just... don't moan like that again." I say as my voice was huskier than before. As it was more of my wolfs voice than my normal voice

"ok.. " he said confused and just continued eating the burger 

I need a cold shower. Or take this out in the bathroom. But right now my mate needs me. I'll take good care of him.

"So... how is it?" I ask

"Best..." you can hear him chew threw talking, "meal..." like he can't stop chewing "EVER!"

I chuckle. "Well, I'm glad you enjoy it. I bet my cooking isn't as good as that thou"

He stops and thinks but also smirk at an idea, "you know... ill never know until you cook for me" he tries to tease or get something out of me

My wolf howls inside of me

Cook for my mate?! I'll hunt down food, skin it, dry it, cook it, take out muscle and bone for him.

Ill get messy just for him.

"Then I'll guess I'll cook for you tomorrow~" I purr

He stops chewing suddenly and stares at me

"Seriously? Youll cook for me?" He looks shocked

"Anything for you" I get closer to his face with my own and smirk

I finally get the reaction I dreamed of getting.

He starts blushing mad crazy like a tomato.

My wolf was proud and praised me.

I felt giggly.

He turns away embarrassment.

"So uhhh... when can I get out of these cuffs and get showered and changed?" He asks politely

"Well since you're a shifter, I'm guessing pretty soon sense we could heal faster than normal humans"

He nods but still looks puzzled.

"What's wrong little one?"

He rubs the back of his head, "I guess I forgot to ask Rico something but I have a question"

"Rico?" I questioned

He shrugs, "some raccoon spirit"

I nod, "ok well hit me with your question"

"Ok well.... can you go more in-depth of a what is a mate?"

Then my face went completely white

"Well, Justine..."
