'Hello,' I lightly knocked on Anum's door before walking inside her office. Her office was far away from Zain's which I instantly appreciated. Far away meant less interaction with him which equaled to less stress and I was completely okay with that.

'Come in...I have been waiting for you since I got here' She smiled widely in my direction and asked me to take a seat. Just as I seated, she passed forward a booklet and a welcome folder for me to look at.

'I had a long lecture' I said to her.

'Awhh...okay well this is for you to keep...this pretty much explains what we do here. I am still in a learning phase myself so I won't be able to answer your questions that well so if you need anything you can always go talk to Zain or ask our office manager, Salman.' She told me.

'Once you are done, I'll go take you to our HR assistant, so you can sign the documents' She added and left the office to grab us some coffee. Unlike her brother, her office looked like an office, not a hybrid of an office and a motel.

'Ready?' Anum entered the room a few minutes later and by that time I was done reviewing the information booklet.

I nodded and walked up to her, she handed me a cup of coffee and we walked to the HR assistant cabin.

'This is Saima our HR assistant, I am going to leave you with her for some time. She will explain your roles and responsibility and you can discuss your work schedule with her...I have already told her that you are still in college, so your schedule will be flexible for the most part. I am going to work with Zain in the meanwhile...once you're done, join me in his office okay?' She informed me and left me with Saima. Saima was around the same age as me, she graduated about a year ago and started working with Zain right after graduating from college. She told me how the majority of the staff here was young because Zain wanted to give college graduate better career opportunity to help them get ahead in their field. By the sounds of it, most people here were quite fond of Zain which I found very hard to believe. I guess rough people made good business people.

'So...as a part-time office assistant, you will be working mostly with Anum but on some occasions, you will be assisting the office manager and of course Mr. Zain. Your supervisor is Anum so regarding any schedule change, days off, or vacation...things like that, you will report to her...however in her absence, Mr.Zain will be your on-call supervisor so you will report to him. Anum mentioned that you are a business student, so you will be asked to create reports and presentations for our quarterly reporting to our investors and funders and other duties will be like organizing and sorting out files and other administrative duties...any questions?' She went on and finally stopped. I thought the list will never end.

'No...not right now...' I said to her.

'Okay...so here are the documents that I am going to ask you to sign...we decided on this salary...please take a look at all the terms and expected weekly hours which right now are 25...so about five hours a day after or change it up depending on your classes...okay?...so read everything and put your initials in every page, once you're done please sign the last page' She instructed and I did as asked.

'Great, I will create your ID card, you can pick it up tomorrow when you come in. Okay...I guess we're done. Welcome to LabConnect' She collected the papers and gave me an access card.

'Thank you...' I waited to see if there was anything else she wanted me to do.

'You can go and see Anum now, we're done here' She smiled at me.

'Oh okay' I got up from my seat to leave.

'Maya...if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me' She looked at me.
