thirty one

the boys had been driving for about two hours now and were almost at the first stop. nobody knew where they were going except mark and donghyuck, since donghyuck wanted to surprise the other five. norenmin had obviously been worried about each other which resulted in chenle worrying for his best friend which then resulted in jisung worrying about his boyfriend so donghyuck wanted to give them all a break.

the brunette turned around to look at the boys in the back. chenle was sleeping, curled up on two of the seats with his head on jisung's lap who was on his phone. the three boys behind the chensung couple were all asleep and donghyuck couldn't make out who's limbs were whos.

he turned back to look at the road and played with the strings of his hoodie. 'hey mark, do you think we should tell them?' donghyuck turned to look at said boy who didn't take his eyes off the road but intertwined his hand with the youngers.

'i mean jaemin caught us and didn't say anything. it's not like they'd be homophobic.' donghyuck snorted, causing a small smile to appear on mark's face. 'i'm fine with keeping it lowkey and i'm fine with telling them, so it's really up to you.'

donghyuck nodded and held mark's hand up, making it into a fist before he fist bumped it. 'thanks, dude.'

mark sighed as donghyuck giggled to himself before he took out his phone and clicked on his playlist.

'horanghae~'

'hyuck no-'

once they finally reached the first spot, mark parked the car and the boys all jolted awake at the abrupt stop.

chenle yawned and lifted his head from his boyfriend's lap. 'are we here?'

donghyuck nodded with a hum as he hopped out of the car and let out a relaxed sigh at the fresh air. jaemin looked out the window and was instantly filled with excitement as he saw the long strip of water. he rushed his two boyfriends to get out of the car, with renjun almost falling head first out the door.

once they were out of the car they find a bathroom nearby to change in before they all headed to the beach. jaemin ran ahead of everyone and headed straight for the water with no hesitation. donghyuck looked at mark evilly before he threw him over his shoulder and ran towards the water while mark screamed for help.

renjun giggled as he watched the pair and failed to notice the look on jeno's face. he sensed the silent boy beside him and turned to look at the brunette. his jaw dropped as he noticed the same mischievous look on his face that donghyuck had and before he could do anything he was suddenly being carried bridal style.

'jeno no no, don't do this come on let me down.' renjun started punching jeno's chest as he watched the water get closer and closer. jeno walked into the water until it reached his knees and he smiled innocently at the panicking boy.

'you want me to let you down?'

'yes- wait no, NO-' renjun was cut off as jeno shrugged and dropped the boy into the water. laughter erupted from beside them as the other boys watched in amusement. they all waited for renjun to resurface and grew worried when he didn't. jeno leaned closer, trying to look in the water.

'renjun? where-' this time it was jeno that was cut off when renjun's hand reached up from the water and grabbed his collar, dragging him under the water with him. everyone watched them with a shocked expression before they started laughing again.

the next few hours were filled with laughter and everyone betraying each other. at one point, donghyuck had pretended he hurt himself and made himself cry just so he could drag mark under the water. 

the night gradually turned from a light blue to a bright orange and that's when the boys decided it was time to leave. they all changed back into their regular clothes before piling into the car, this time filled with too much adrenaline and chatter to sleep. the drive to the next spot wasn't too far away and they were there within a few minutes.

it was a small beach restaurant that had been decorated to look like a shack. fairy lights were strung along the front of the roof and it had that fresh beachy smell. the boy all entered with a smile and were shown to a table beside the window that looked out over the beach.

'thank you guys for organizing this.' everyone drew their attention to chenle who was smiling at mark and donghyuck. everyone nodded and a chorus of 'thank you' could be heard. the two boys simply smiled before donghyuck spoke up.

'actually, we have something to tell you.'

mark looked at the boy with surprise but gave him a small smile to encourage him. donghyuck took a deep breath.

'i'm gay!' mark groaned as he hit his head against the table and everyone looked at the pair with confusion all over their faces.

'hyuck we already knew that.' jisung spoke up and donghyuck rolled his eyes dramatically.

'oh so you don't believe me? you really think i'm straight?' everyone looked at each other, feeling more confused than ever, until donghyuck grabbed mark's face and kissed the canadian boy. mark froze with wide eyes until he realized what was happening and melted into donghyuck's arms.

everyone just stared at them with shock except for jaemin who noisily slurped his water. jeno hit his arm with an unimpressed look. donghyuck finally pulled away after what felt like hours and smiled at the confused and shocked boys. 'there's your proof!'

'but we already knew-'

'so yeah we're dating.' donghyuck giggled and held up his hand to show it was intertwined with mark's.

'i have no idea what just happened but congratulations?' chenle shook his head and everyone laughed, equally as confused.
