(One Week Later)

Alex's P.O.V (Katie's best friend)

It had been one week since Katie has gone missing and I thought about her every day. The police were looking for her but they hadn't found much.

I had helped them find her phone at the convenience store but that was all we had found. The phone records showed that I had been the last to call her and I had to explain what I heard to the police.

I had heard Katie scream and it was a high pitched, horrifying scream and then I heard people shouting, after that the line went dead. Every night the phone call replayed in my head and I was determined to find her.

Today I woke up early like I had been doing for the past week. I quickly got ready and ran downstairs. I was greeted by my mother who was cooking some breakfast. Katie's disappearance had been hard on her family and ours.

"Alex honey you need to eat." my mother said sweetly but I wasn't hungry there was no time to waste, I needed to find Katie.

"No thanks mom," I said as I kissed her on the cheek then rushed out the door. people were already being put into groups to go out and search for Katie. I got into my car and just as I was about to pull out of the driveway someone started tapping on my window. I rolled the windows down to reveal Officer Mike who was leading the investigation.

"Good morning sir. Have you heard any more news about her?" I asked with hope.

"Nothing yet but would you like to search the woods with me today?" I could use an extra hand." I quickly nodded because we hadn't covered the woods yet and I would take any opportunity to find her. I got out of my car and followed officer Mike to his car.

We drove in silence for fifteen minutes until we finally reached the woods. I immediately got out and followed Mike. We searched along the road and through a forest. In the distance, I noticed a shattered bottle next to something lying on the side of the road. I ran over to it with Mike following and saw that it had been a coat lying beside broken glass and I knew exactly who's coat it was, it was Katie's.

I reached out to it but mike stopped me. It looked that it had been thrown out of a car or something since it was on the side of the road.

"We need that for evidence. Let me call for back up." Mike stated as he walked back to the police car.

"That means they came this way." I thought out loud. I wasn't someone who cried a lot but just the thought of Katie not being with me made me start to cry.

"Hey, man are you alright." Someone called out and I had just realized a car beside me. I ran up to the car and saw a few men in it and I hoped they lived around here and maybe saw her somewhere.

"Have you seen this girl around here?" I asked as I held up a picture of Katie with shaky hands. I tried to make out what they looked like but it was no use since my eyes were blurry from crying. There was a long pause before the driver finally answered.

"Uh, nope, sorry we aren't from around here. Hope you find her man." The driver said.

"Yeah me too and sorry for wasting your ti-." I started saying but the driver quickly sped off. That was weird I thought but quickly dismissed it like nothing since I had other things on my mind and I turned around to see two police cars pulling up and I walked over to them.

"Alex someone dropped off a videotape of Katie, you probably should see it. There is a police officer who will bring you to her house." Mike said and my eyes went wide as I quickly got into the cop car that would take me to her house.

"Hurry please" was all I said to the police officer and he listened without saying anything.

After about 15 minutes we finally arrived and I rushed into Katie's house to find my parents, Katie's mom and sister, and a few police officers looking at something on the computer. The screen flashed on revealing Katie standing in a Room and then she started talking.

"Everything is fine and I'm not hurt or anything. All you need to do is call this number to get further details." She paused and she looked scared." please do not get the police involved and don't show this to anyone so I won't get hurt." She finished as a tear trickled down her cheek and the screen went black to reveal a phone number.

I honestly didn't know what to do so I just stood there numb with shock. I never wanted to see her scared or in any type of pain, this made me feel horrible inside and I knew I had to get her back.
