The classroom hummed with the sounds of rustling papers and whispered conversations as the students settled into their seats for another day of lessons. Meera found herself seated in her usual spot, second row, third bench, next to her friend Rani. As she unpacked her books and notebooks, Meera stole a quick glance towards the back of the room, where her crush, Lakhsya , sat in the third row, fourth bench.

"So, how did you do on yesterday's math test?" Rani asked, breaking the silence between them.

Meera's heart skipped a beat at the mention of the test. "Um, I think I did okay," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. In truth, Meera had struggled with some of the questions, but she didn't want to worry Rani with her academic concerns.

Rani raised an eyebrow. "Just okay? Come on, Meera, you're always so hard on yourself. I'm sure you aced it."

Meera forced a small smile, grateful for Rani's unwavering support. "Thanks, Rani. I hope you're right."

As their teacher entered the classroom and began the day's lesson, Meera tried to focus on the material, but her mind kept drifting back to Lakhsya . She couldn't help but steal glances in his direction, admiring the way he listened intently to the teacher, his brow furrowed in concentration.

"You're doing it again," Rani whispered, nudging Meera with her elbow.

Meera blushed, realizing she had been caught staring. "Sorry, I can't help it. He's just so...focused."

Rani followed Meera's gaze to where Lakhsya sat, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "Ah, I see. You've got a crush on Lakhsya , don't you?"

Meera's cheeks burned with embarrassment, and she quickly looked away. "What? No, of course not! I-I mean, he's just a classmate."

Rani raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Sure, Meera. Whatever you say. But if you ever need someone to talk to about it, I'm here for you."

Meera nodded, grateful for Rani's understanding, even though she wasn't ready to admit the truth about her feelings for Lakhsya . As the lesson continued, Meera tried to push her crush to the back of her mind, focusing instead on taking notes and participating in class discussions.

But no matter how hard she tried, Lakhsya's presence remains lingered in her thoughts, a constant reminder of the secret she held close to her heart. And as the day wore on, Meera couldn't shake the feeling that her carefully guarded emotions were on the verge of being discovered.

........................................................................

Meera shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions. As Rani continued to chat about their upcoming science project, Meera's attention drifted back to Lakhsya . She couldn't help but admire the way his eyes sparkled with intelligence whenever he answered a question or shared his thoughts with the class. To Meera, he was more than just a classmate; he was someone she secretly admired from afar, someone she longed to get to know better.

But as quickly as those thoughts surfaced, Meera pushed them aside, burying them beneath a facade of indifference. She couldn't afford to let her feelings for Lakhsya jeopardize their friendship or invite unwanted attention from their classmates. After all, she was just an average girl, with her insecurities and doubts weighing her down like an invisible anchor.

Meera stole another glance at Lakhsya , her heart fluttering at the sight of his smile. She couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards him, but she also couldn't ignore the nagging fear that telling anyone about her crush would only lead to ridicule and mockery. In a school where gossip spread like wildfire, Meera couldn't bear the thought of becoming the subject of everyone's laughter and taunts.

Lost in her thoughts, Meera barely noticed when Rani nudged her again, snapping her back to reality. "Hey, are you okay? You seem distracted."

Meera forced a smile, masking her inner turmoil. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about the project."

Rani gave her a knowing look but didn't press any further. Instead, she launched into a discussion about their project ideas, giving Meera a welcome distraction from her tangled emotions.

But even as they brainstormed ideas and made plans, Meera couldn't shake the feeling of uncertainty that lingered in the back of her mind. She knew that her feelings for Lakhsya weren't going to disappear overnight, but for now, she was content to keep them hidden, buried deep beneath the surface where no one else could see.
