The Promise

All Night Long

**Beth**

"I should go ," He said .
"Jake , you shouldn't leave because of him ," I said .
"No its okay . I had a really great time with you today though ," He said .
"Me too ," I said as I followed him to the door .
"See you around ," He said .
"Bye ," I said as I closed the door as he walked down the driveway .

I sighed and walked two steps into the kitchen when I heard the refrigerator door close and Alex say ,"He left ?" .
"Yep ," I said .
He didn't say anything but I could tell he was happy on the inside .
I went to the living room and cleaned up the mess we made .
Alex was sitting on the counter eating something .

When I was done cleaning up the mess , I went to my room .

*** Two Months Later ***

Two months have passed and things are not going so good .
Alex and I are trying to work things out .
He keeps bringing up the promise that  we made before and I keep telling him  that he is a girlfriend .
Jake and I have gone on multiple dates and they have gone good. 

I think I like Jake more now that I have gotten to know him  a lot better. 
He is a cool , out going and fun person to hangout with and it doesn't get awkward like how me and Alex get sometimes when we are talking .
I feel comfortable when I'm with him.

I am currently  at home on my bed talking to Cathy and Ally on the phone. It is nighttime right now and my mother yelled ," Beth, come down here ," from downstairs while Cathy was in the middle of saying something .
"Bye Beth ," Ally said .
"Bye guys , I'll be back ," I said as I ended the call and went downstairs to the living room .

"Yes mom," I said and I saw that everyone who is at home is in the living room .
"What's going on ?" I asked curiously .
"We have something to tell you both ," My mother said and patted a place on the couch opposite them for us to sit .
Alex and I sat down cautiously in case we walked into a trap of our parents .

"Its great news that both of you will love ," Alex 's mother said .
"What is it ?" Alex and I  said at the same time. 
"Well , we are going on a cruise for the break ," My mother said in a very excited way .
We both stood up and yelled ," What !" .
"We are leaving the day after tomorrow ," My mother said .
"What ! " We yelled again. 

"Anna and I planned some much stuff to do for the break together ," Alex said .
"And Cathy , Ally , Jake and I planned to do things together for the break as well ," I said .
"So ,  the point were trying to make is that we are busy ," Alex said and I agreed with him .
"It would be fun though ," My mother said trying to convince us .

"Ugh ," Me and Alex went at the same time. 
"Stop it . Both of you are going ," My dad said .
"But dad ," I said as I whined to him .
"It will be fun , trust me sweetie ," My mother said .
Alex and I went back to rooms with sad faces . We walked right into their trap without knowing .
I really wanted to spend the break we had off of school with the girls and Jake .

I joined back the call with Cathy , Ally and surprisingly , Jake was on the call too .
I told them  the news and they did not like it .
Jake hated the idea but he had to deal with it. 
Cathy and Ally left because they fell asleep which left me and Jake .

We talked all night long until it was 3 in the morning. 
It's funny because we are not even officially together but yet we act like we are .
I went to sleep after we hung up the phone and I didn't wake up until it was 9 am. 
"Morning ," Alex said .
"Morning ,"I said and yawned .
I sat up in bed and remembered everything about  last night .

"Fun night ," Alex said. 
"Yeah ," I said and a huge smile crept on my face. 
"Good ," He said as he walked out of my room .
I got out of  bed and got ready for the day .
When I was done , I went downstairs to eat .
"Finally woke up , huh ," My mother said .

"Morning ," I said .
"Morning sweetie ," My father said .
Alex came out of his room all dressed up .
"Your friends are in the living room ," My father said .
Alex and I went to the living room and I saw Anna , Jake , Cathy and Ally all sitting down talking which was very weird .
