"Can I talk to you?" Travis asked me.
"Uh, me?"
"Yeah."
"Uh, I guess so." I was shocked.
What did he want with me?
"Listen, I want to apologize for what I did. I don't want to ruin anything." He said.
I raised my eyebrow at him. I didn't know if I should believe him or not.
"I guess."
"Thank goodness. Hopefully Iris and Cole will forgive me."
"Good luck with that, I have to get to class."
"What's that supposed to mean?" He asked.
"Nothing, I gotta go." I said walking away.
Cole's POV
I couldn't wait for Lainey and I's date tonight. I was planning to ask her to prom. She won't be expecting it at all. Hopefully she doesn't get too mad at me for drawing attention to us. I know it's only been a week but I've fallen so hard for her. I wonder if she feels like this about me.
I turned the corner just to see her flirting with another guy. I didn't know who it was but she kept touching his arm and I knew what that met. She was giggling a lot too.
"I'll see you later Mr. C." She walked away.
"What was that?" I asked.
"What was what?" She was playing stupid.
"Why were you flirting with the teacher?"
"Cole, you really think I'm into teachers?" She asked.
"I don't know."
"No, I'm not, I'm into you." She intertwined our fingers.
"Prove it." I smiled teasing her.
She used her free hand and cupped my face. She slowly leaned in and her soft lips connected with mine.
"Ew." Someone interrupted us.
I pulled away from Lainey to see who it was.
It was a guy that I didn't know but it seemed like Lainey did.
"Hey." She smiled.
"Iris told me to tell you she needs to talk to you later."
"Uh, okay." She said.
He walked away and I raised an eyebrow at her.
"Oh my goodness, you're just the green eye monster today aren't you?" She said.
"I don't know, I think I'm loosing it." I chuckled.
"Relax. It's only Iris's brother Caleb." She said, "Now let's get to class."
I nodded and I walked her to her next class.
"Bye, babe." I said.
I saw her make a weird face, "let's not call each other babe or baby. I feel like it's not us." She shook her head.
"Alright, cutie." I smiled.
"Much better." She smiled back.
She went into her class room and I started to walk to mine with a smile on my face.
"What are you so happy about?" I heard Travis's voice.
"Nothin." I said.
"Man, I'm really sorry about doing that to you." He seemed genuine.
I was really surprised that he apologized to me. He used to never apologize for anything when we were younger.
"I'm not the one you have to apologize to." I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Don't worry I already said sorry to Lainey."
"Really?"
Again, I'm super shocked he would even apologize to any of us.
•Travis's POV•
I had an agenda today. I needed to apologize to Lainey, Cole, and Iris. I don't like looking my best friend over something so stupid. I also was just starting to get to know Iris. I really like her and I think she really liked me until I fucked it up.
"Do you forgive me?" I asked Cole with my fingers crossed.
"Yeah I guess so." He scratched the back of his neck.
"Alright." I smiled ear to ear, "you busy tonight bro?"
"Actually yes I am. I'm going on a date with Lainey." He said.
"Oh okay. It's cool."
Now on to the last person to get to forgive me.
"I gotta go, I'll see you later." I dashed down the hall.
I went to my blue locker and got the roses I bought this morning for Iris.
She's going to love these. I skipped my class and waited for Iris outside of hers.
I paced up and down the hallway. My heart was going a mile a minute. I took a deep breath as the bell started to ring.
Iris came out and she was looking at me like I was crazy.
"What?" She tapped her foot.
"Listen, I know I fucked up big time and I'm really sorry. I already apologized to Lainey and she forgave me." I stuck the roses out.
"What did you give her roses too?" She crossed her arms.
"No, they're just for you!" I smiled.
"I don't know..." she looked around.
"I also had another question."
"What's that?"
"Will be my girlfriend?"
"I don't forgive you yet, you have to prove to me that your really sorry."
"Okay." Gave her a peck.
I can't believe she semi forgave me.
•Cole's POV•
Here we go, I was outside of Lainey's house. I was wearing a black buttoned up shirt with black pants. The last time I dressed up for some one was Lori.
I got out of my car and knocked on her front door. An older woman answered it. I was assuming it was her mom. She had blonde hair up to her shoulders and she had Lainey's eyes.
"Hello, you must be Cole!" She smiled.
"Yes, it's very nice to finally meet you."
"You too, Lainey will be right down." She gave a warm smile.
"Perfect." I smiled at her.
I saw a very tall man walking towards me. I stiffed up because I'm pretty sure that was her dad.
"You're taking out my daughter tonight right?" He towered over me.
"Don't scare to poor boy!" Lainey's mom hit him with a dish towel.
"I want you to take care of her."
"Yes sir."
I heard footsteps coming from the stairs and I looked over. It was Lainey dressed up.
