"Is that all you've got Addi?" Vienna taunted as the two girls circled each other on the training mat. Adrianne smirked before throwing a punch, which Vienna caught with her left hand before throwing a punch with her right. Addi managed to dodge in time before lifting her leg and kicking Vienna in the knees. Vie stumbled back slightly, but recovered in time to block the next punch coming her way.

"Come on Vie!" Natia cheered as Bex cheered on Adrianne from beside her. Vienna quickly ducked and sweeped her leg, sending Addi to the floor with a large thump. As she stood back up again, Vienna's eyes fell on Sky, who was speaking to Stella in the distance.

She yelped as she felt her legs knock out from beneath her, and her back impacted hard with the mat. She groaned as Addi stood back up and hovered over her with a grin. "This is why you never lower your guard." She turned towards the direction that Vienna had previously been staring in. "Why were you distracted anyway."

Vienna sat up on the mat and looked back towards Sky, who was still conversing with Stella.
"See, I told you he wasn't pining over me. I'm pretty sure he's dating Stella."

"Nah I don't think so," Bex stated as she stared at the two blondes. "He looks fed up with her half the time."

Vienna snorted as she stood back up and gestured for Natia and Bex to get on the mat. "Forget him. It's your turn to spar."

"Hey Dad!" Vienna exclaimed as she casually leaned against the doorway leading into his office. Silva looked up in surprise as he shuffled around the room.

"Hey sweetheart," he responded as he continued to move around the office, stuffing various objects into a small bag.

"Where are you going?" she questioned in confusion as she eyed the various swords resting across his back. He never normally wore more than one at a time, and it made her suspicious.

"Uh, just a small assignment for Queen Luna. Nothing too serious."

Vienna folded her arms in front of her as she raised a brow. "Dad, i'm already mad at you for not telling me about the body they found outside the barrier. Are you really hiding things from me now?"

Silva sighed before turning towards the girl. "You know I would have told you if I could Vie. Farah didn't want anyone to panic."

"Half the school knew before me. And it's not like I would have gone and told everybody."

"Vienna, please just-"

"Look, tell me where you're going and i'll forgive you."

"I told you, it's an assignment for Queen Luna."

"That's never stopped you from telling me before Dad." She studied him as he ran a hand down his face, clearly exasperated by the current conversation he was having. "It's about the Burned One isn't it?"

Silva's eyes snapped up to meet hers in shock, before he shook his head. "No, it's not." Vienna knew her father too well, and she knew that he was lying by the way he was avoiding her gaze.

"Okay." She turned to leave the room. "Guess i'll see you at training tomorrow then." She walked away from the office, not even waiting for a response from the man.

It probably seemed silly, but hearing her father flat out lie to her face made Vienna feel betrayed. The two Silvas had promised to never keep things from each following the lie he had told her about the circumstances of her mother's death only six years prior, and she didn't think he would ever lie about something as big as that ever again.

It wasn't a good feeling.

I know what you're thinking. How dare you post a crappy chapter like this. Jk, but in all honesty I hate everything about this chapter. I tried rewriting it but then I decided to just post it and write a better chapter nine. I also wanna punch Vienna in the face for being mean to her dad 😭😭 It's for the plot but I HATE CONFLICT. I just want them to be the ultimate father daughter duo.

Also I reposted the first chapter of my original fic (centuries) if anyone wants to check that out. (I do way too much self promo in the book wtf)
