Our third book club, Sunflower Reading Group, is our newest, and we're excited to begin! Here is how it works:
- You must be 18+ to enter, as we require you must be okay with mature material
- Each member is put into groups (no bigger than four of five people) based on book and genre similarities, and they are assigned to read two chapters of a group member's book weekly
- The person who gave the best overall feedback in the previous assignment is crowned the Book of the Week, which everyone in the reading group has to read one chapter of weekly
- We separate this book club into terms. A term lasts two months, roughly eight assignments in each one. During a term, you will remain in the same group and we ask that you don't leave until the end of a term, unless it's an emergent case
- In order to join the reading group, you need to pass a trial, going above our comment guidelines and doing everything else correctly
- If you fail to complete an assignment in time (and don't ask for an extension), you get a strike. You are removed from the reading group after three strikes in one term, unable to return. For doing anything incorrectly besides not completing your assignment (examples: doing an assignment after the due date but before the next assignment, not fulfilling comment guidelines, etc), you get a warning. If you have enough warnings—depends on how long you've been in the reading group—we will ask you to sit out for a term. Both strikes and warnings reset each term
We haven't seen as many group-based book clubs on Wattpad, so we decided to give ours a go! You're intended to get far into each other's books, while also getting to know your fellow group members well. If you're looking for a more traditional book club, check out Sunflower Book Club or Sunflower Writing Circle if you want more of a challenge.
