Birthday

I wake up In my bed, Jeremiah must have carried me up here. I prove he did by seeing the trail of his sandy footprints at my door. I wake up and get dressed. It was my birthday today. The thing about me and Belly Is that we shared birthdays, and always had a combined birthday party, but

she was always at cousins so Id have to wait for her to get back. Now though, we could have a birthday party on our real birthday. Me and Belly decided to match, we always match on our birthday. We both have on  a floral romper. I do light makeup, put my hair in a claw clip and head

downstairs with Belly holding hands. As we step into the dining room Jeremiah comes up to both of us and hugs us both tightly. "Happy sweet 16 girls!" Jeremiah announces. "Laurel comes us and hugs us As well, "Happy birthday girls, so glad you finally get a party on your birthday!"

Then Steven comes up and hugs us both, I was surprised by this. When does Steven start hugging? "happy birthday nerds." he says. "Thank you all so much!." I exclaim. "Your mickey mouse pancakes are ready!" Me and Belly sit down at the table and they all start to sing," Happy

birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday day belly and Oli... Happy birthday to you!!" Every time I've wished on my birthday I always have to sit and think, but not this time. This time I wished for Jeremiah. I look at him as I blow out my candles really locking in the wish.

Belly is still thinking, every other birthday she's always wished for the same thing, Conrad. What changed that? She finally blows out her candle

and everyone starts cheering. "Lets go open gifts!" Susannah finally breaks the silence. We all head to the living room and Belly and I are sitting

on the love seat together. "Alright open mine first!." Laurel gives belly a wrapped present  and I a picture frame, the picture is of me and belly at

preschool laughing and holding hands. I start to tear up, "Awww, I remember that day." Belly says.

                                                                            FLASHBACK

As my mom pulls up I see a cluster of kids outside running and playing. I hold her hand as she takes me up to the front desk, "This Is Oli." My mom told the lady at the desk. "Hi Oli! Come with me sweetheart!" The lady grabs my hand and tears fill my eyes as I look back and see my mother

waving bye. The woman takes me outside to play with the other kids. I go try to find a quiet place to sit and when I see the only quiet corner I see a girl, this girl had long black hair and her hands on her face, she was sad. She missed her mom, just like me. "Hello..." I say to her. She

looks up and wipes her tears with her sleeve. "Hello, I'm belly." She says trying to smile. "Do you wanna play with me?" I say nervously. "Sure!" She says taking my hand. We began playing mermaids and running around holding hands. That's when I met my first ever friend, my bestfriend. Belly Conklin.

End Of Flashback

"How could I forget!" I squeeze Belly into a tight hug and wipe the tears from my eyes. "Thank you so much Laurel!" I walk up and give her a hug. "Of course! Open yours now Belly!" Belly opens her gift to reveal a book. A book of poems. "I got it from a rare book seller." Laurel

Explains. "Thanks mom!" Belly says trying to sound happy. "Flip to the bookmarked page." Laurel says rolling her eyes. " Aw! I remember this! Susannah taught us all  this poem! Then I taught it to Oli!" Belly begins to recite, "For whatever we lose..." I chime in, " like a you or a me..."

Everybody now joins in and finishes, " Its always ourselves we find in the sea!" "Alright! Mine next!" Susannah hands us both jewelry boxes. Belly opens hers and reveals a pearl necklace. I open mine and see gorgeous pearl bracelet and earrings. " My mother gifted me these pearls on

my sweet 16." "Thank you so much Susannah!" Me and Belly both say. "Alright! Me next!" It was Jeremiahs turn, and was curious to see what he bought me. He hands me and Belly jewelry boxes. Belly opens hers and I see he got her a key charm for her charm bracelet. "Thanks Jere!" I

open mine to reveal a necklace, a beautiful necklace with a wave on it. "Aw thank you Jere!" "Of course Olls!" He comes over and gives me a big hug. Think fast! Steven throws me and belly horribly wrapped gifts! "Nice wrapping Steven. Laurel says rolling her eyes. I tear open my gift

and inside there's a sweatshirt that says," My bestfriends brother is hot." "What the actual hell Steven." I say holding it up. "Its true isn't it?" I see Jeremiah eyeing me for my answer. "Yeah sure whatever Steven." "I swear to god Steven If I open this and its ANYTHING like that I'm going to

come over there and-" "Relax Belly, open it!" She opens it and reveals a sweatshirt that says, "Princeton" Belly holds it up. "Wow Steven you actually spent money on me!" "Relax, I just don't want you stealing mine when I get in next year. " I look over and see Conrad holding a black

jewelry pouch. I think to myself, Aww I wonder what he got Belly, She's gonna love it! "I didn't think you were still considering Princeton?" Laurel says confused. " Well, I'm gonna apply for scholarships, and dad thinks I can get some financial aid." Susannah Interrupts "Conrad why don't you give the girls your gift?" Conrad hesitates and says, "Sorry girls, I forgot." Belly looks

hurt. I squeeze her hand to let her know I'm here for her. What a dick Conrad Is, and what did he have in his pocket? Was he lying? "Oh, that's cool, I wasn't really expecting anything anyways." Belly says. I give Conrad a dirty look. "I uh, got to go, I told Cleveland Id go help him with some

knots." Conrad says and begins to leave. What an asshole. "Okay Bells... Open mine!" I hand belly my neatly wrapped present with a bow on top." Belly unwraps it to reveal a brown box she pulls off the top to reveal a bunch of layers pf the box  decorated with a bunch of pictures with us

and confetti and candy. "Awww, thank you so much Oli!" She pulls me into a hug. "Open mine! She hand me a glass song art, with the song "The Very first Night, by Taylor Swift. " "It was the song playing when we danced at the 8th grade ball together when no one asked us so we went together." She says. " Aww I remember that Haha! Thanks Bells!"

"Why don't I take you guys to go pick up Taylor?" Jeremiah says. "Sure that'd be great!" Belly says.
