the group walked into the upside down version of the wheeler household and looked around. the furniture was covered in vines and grime, twisting across most of the floor, making it harder for them to walk without stepping on something which would alert another creature in the upside down. steve shone a torch around the house, looking across the rooms.

"might be time to get a maid, wheeler." robin joked.

"come on. i don't wanna stay here longer than we have to." nancy said and walked up the stairs, the other four following.

nancy opened her wardrobe and pulled out a box, pulling off the lid and tissue paper only to reveal ballet shoes. adella's eyebrows furrowed. anti-climactic, she thought.

"those aren't guns." eddie stated the obvious.

"these heels are pointy, but i was hoping for something along the lines of a deadly projectile." robin spoke up.

"i don't understand." nancy shook her head.

"maybe you left them somewhere else." eddie suggested.

"there's a six-year-old in the house. i know where i keep my guns." nancy snapped. "and also, i threw these away years ago." she then picked up some revision cards with a confusion expression.

"nancy, most people don't feel like doing chemistry at any point in their life, why would anyone now?!" adella exclaimed.

"these are from sophomore chemistry." nancy stated before linking to her wall. "and this... this wallpaper, this is old wallpaper. and this mirror, it went to a yard sale. and you..." she picked up a teddy, "you're not supposed to be here. no, i gave you to cousin joanna two years ago."

"yeah, thanks for the room tour." adella mumbled, rubbing her temples. "does anyone in your house have a walkman and queen or mötley crüe?"

"sh!" nancy snapped, flicking through a diary.

"what is it?" eddie asked and got no response.

"nancy, you're freaking me out." robin said.

"i think the reason that my guns aren't here is because they don't exist yet." nancy explained.

"they don't... exist?" eddie repeated in confusion.

"this diary should be full of entries. it's not. the last entry is november 6, 1983. the day will went missing. the day the gate opened. we're in the past." she gasped.

"dustin! dustin!" they heard steve shout and realised he hadn't followed them up like they thought so they ran down. "dustin!? can you hear me!? du- hello!? hel... hello!?"

"maybe he really does have rabies." robin muttered.

"hello! hello!?"

"steve, what are you doing?" nancy asked.
