Izuku woke up. His eyelids separated as light filtered through the slat style curtains, creating rows of light on the ceiling. However, as soon as he became conscious, he could feel a certain... dread... linger in the room. Confusion and fear. He needed to know why.

Looking around, he found his mother in the bed to his right. To his left was Sadako. "What... what did I miss?"
She looked up, her hair covering most of her face. However, her visible eye conveyed all her emotions at once. Fear, despair, loss of hope. Something big had happened.

Clearing her throat, the Onryo started to speak. "Well... the Sports Festival happened."

That was a positive thing. Or should have been, to Izuku's hope... but... Sadako's initial impression wasn't great... her tone warned of something dark. His heart stopped for a moment as his deepest fear was realized. "Bakugo attacked the Festival."

It was such a brazen thing for them to do, "He... he did what?"
The ravenette didn't spare any feelings in her assessment. "The full force of the League, the Veil, and Bakugo himself, attacked the Sports Festival. There's a new killer... it's best if I explain from the beginning."

And so, Sadako explained events as they happened. The rising phenomenon of the marked people. How Reiko from Class B, and a promising student from the General Class, Shinsou, were both marked ahead of time. And it was at the Award ceremony when the chaos started. How Bakugo's new ally had taken control over more than half of the live audience... and made them slaughter those who weren't manipulated by him. It was horrific. And broadcasted on live television. Then Allmight was killed by a combination of Reiko, controlled by the Operator, and Shigaraki, who dealt the killing blow.

It was the worst outcome possible.

The greenette cursed, it was partially his fault. After all, he had told Bakugo that making a tragedy would strengthen it, and he did that to great effect. The death of Allmight was a horrific event on its own, but with all of the deaths, and missing people...

It could truly be called a tragedy.

Sadako explained what was happening now. "Recovery Girl is helping deal with the injured who survived. That is why she is not here."

That made him think. Why was he targeted by the League before their... oh. That was why. His annoyance became even more announced, "That... that's why I was attacked. They wanted me out of the way. So this could happen. Damn it all!"

Sadako smiled sadly, knowing that he was thinking of the coming conflict, but, she cannot allow herself, and Izuku, to lose hope.

"It's not the invasion yet. There is still time... and someone who you should talk to." She gestured behind her. There was a boy he had seen only a few times... and then he remembered that he was in the trials.

Surprised, Izuku asked quickly, "What... how did you escape?!"

"I don't know." Jonathan Byers replied, rubbing the back of his neck, responding in English. "I only remember running from that... thing, and finding myself here, in Japan. I was taken in a few weeks back by a kind family, and they taught me Japanese, and enrolled me in the General Studies course here. I don't speak your language very well, but I can understand you just fine."
