Warning! There is some lightly mature content in this scene. Although first, they need to feed the cat. But if that is something you want to avoid, skip to the end after the characters enter Tristan's room (but read the last two lines).

"Just let me..." Tristan pried his lips from Vyrsa's to rummage for his keys.

Vyrsa wrinkled her adorable glittering nose at the abruption but allowed him to pause their actions for a moment. "If you must," she mumbled.

They'd basically been making out the whole way home, from when they exited the theater in the cover of darkness until they reached the door to his apartment a moment ago. During a brief intermission on the mall escalator, Tristan had texted Robin to tell them they had left. Tristan was sure his friend would understand, as he and his boyfriend had a tendency to get quite... amorous as well. In fact, Robin may have missed Tristan's text in the flurry of kisses that were dispensed in the theater.

At least he and Vyrsa had the common sense to do such things out of sight of prying eyes. Although Tristan supposed their make-out heavy walk home had been quite public.

Anyway, they were home now, away from glares and judgment.

Having located his keys and turned them in the lock, Tristan swung the door open.

"Meeeooww!" Bobby gave them a judgemental glare from her position right inside the doorway. "Meowwww!" she added for emphasis. After making her point, the cat got up and demonstratively turned her butt toward them as she indignantly strode away.

Tristan didn't speak cat but he was quite sure that meant "Where have you two been all night young man and young lady? It's way past dinner time!"

"Have you not been fed?" Vyrsa asked the disgruntled feline, suddenly more concerned with Bobby's well-being than kissing. "Where is Brody?"

"Hockey practice," Tristan explained. "I believe he'll be away for a few more hours." Which was definitely a good thing, as the walls of the apartment were thin. Many were the nights when Tristan had suffered through loud kissing noises from Brody's room after his roommate had invited a cute cheerleader or sweet snack bar attendee home. Brody wasn't a playboy but he was definitely a flirt who seemed to enjoy the no-strings-attached type of relationship.

Tristan was more of the blew-it-on-the-first-date-after-blathering-too-many-useless-facts type.

Luckily, Vyrsa wasn't aware of the earthly standards of too much blathering, so she never seemed to mind. In fact, she always appeared to listen keenly, with big eyes and encouraging nods, when he went on an unnecessary tangent about the impenetrable Darien Gap or irregular Klingon verb forms. Or whatever fascinating subject captured his attention at the moment.

Currently, he was very interested in human/alien relations.

"I guess I'll feed her," Tristan sighed, keen to get on with their evening without feline interruptions. "Even though I'm quite sure Brody filled her bowl before he left. So Bobby is hardly starved."

He took a deep breath, trying to summon enough oxygen to his brain to remember where the cat food was stored. For some peculiar reason, all the blood in his body seemed to have migrated southward, below his belt.

Ever helpful when it came to food dispensing, Bobby scratched with her paws on a cupboard door to show him the way. The prominent claw marks already carved into the food made it unlikely for the residents to get their deposit back. They may even get hit with a fee for housing a disallowed pet upon moving out. Tristan and Brody had agreed that Bobby's delightful, if somewhat demanding, company was worth the cost.

Not wasting any time to get back into Vyrsa's glittering embrace, Tristan tipped a whole can of tuna onto Bobby's plate, giving the cat an encouraging pat on the back as she dug into her second dinner of the night. Truly living that hobbit life. Which reminded Tristan that he should introduce Vyrsa to Lord of the Rings next. Just imagining her intense fascination upon experiencing the delights of the Shire and the darkness of Helm's Deep made his heart pound faster.
