Daniel POV

I woke up groaning, my arm throbbing like a b!tch. Why did it hurt so much? I glanced over at it, startled to see a neatly wrapped white bandage covering my forearm.

Memories of last night started running through my mind.

*Flashback*

We had all left to go meet an arms dealer. We said bye to Brooke, who seemed lost in the world of math, and reluctantly drove off.

"I really don't like leaving her alone," Michael said unhappily. There were murmurs of agreement from all of us.

Marcus sighed. "We don't have a choice; they insisted on meeting all of us if we wanted to do business. Brooke is a big girl, she can take care of herself."

He didn't seem convinced of that fact, but it was the best we had. This deal would benefit us bigtime, we had to do it.

We pulled into the abandoned alley. Marcus looked at us. "Keep your guns ready. This is an unfamiliar place and a new dealer. We don't know what will happen, so stay alert."

We nodded seriously; even Lucas looked solemn. All of us knew how huge this would be for our business, and we all knew the risks involved.

"Mr. Amoretti?" a voice asked from the shadows. I could pick out an accent, but I couldn't identify it.

Marcus stepped forward, his face a cold stony mask. "Yes." That one word held so much power it could be felt.

"Ahh, good. You brought your brothers as requested." The voice seemed satisfied, filled with glee. "Do you know who I am, Mr. Amoretti?"

Marcus's mask flickered as he shot us a look of confusion. "You're Senor Aquilla, the arms dealer." Funny, the accent didn't sound Spanish.

"Ah! That is where you are wrong, Mr. Amoretti. I wonder if you recognize the name...Maximus."

The voice turned dark. "I can see by your face you do not. Maximus was my brother, and you killed him during one of your raids. Now, I kill your brothers. It's only fair, no?"

Marcus's face dropped and he cursed quietly. "I should have known this was a trap," he muttered. "A trap, no. An ambush, absolutely."

We got our first look at a fair-haired European man as he emerged from behind a dumpster. Definitely not Spanish.

Lucas coughed, almost as if resisting a laugh. He better not do what I think he's about to do.

"I'm sorry, you were behind a dumpster? Not the most badass place to hide. Also, I'm pretty sure this IS a trap. See, a trap is a meeting someone sets up in order to catch another person.

"The other person usually knows about the meeting. In an ambush, the other person doesn't know. It's a surprise attack. Seriously, check a thesaurus. Maybe something got lost in translation?"

Goddamnit he did it. Senor Mysterio's face turned from evil delight to stone cold anger. Without blinking, he drew a hidden gun and shot Lucas.

The loud noise jolted Marcus into action, who drew his own gun and aimed it at the unknown man.

"You shot my brother. Prepare to die." Seriously Marcus? Are you borrowing lines from The Princess Bride now? Be original, fratello.

I couldn't dwell on his blatant plagiarism right now, instead focusing on the 10 men who came crawling out of various hiding places at Senor Mysterio's sharp whistle.
