꧁꧂
Like the roaming owl before the early dawn
He goes about with a tiresome yawn
Drowsy eyes paired with working hands
Clanking dishes in the kitchen he'd danceHe is the morning water that I shiver at rise;
"The cold benefits" his sole advice
Stubborn, unfazed, and hard to convince
But he's been there for the longest sinceWe'd no coachman but he alone—
He who'd drive us through our small town
Yes, short whiles but he care so none
To bring us to where there'd be wisdom and funHear ye, hear ye, I've no prince to brag;
No one to kiss my hand or to carry my bag
Or so you though; I have a king
Someone who has taught me how to singLike the clock itself, as mama says
He comes around to no delay
He fixed my dolls and broken tiaras
He was always there in all of my dramaHe is the moon that shines above
Always following me around to bestow his love
Every grump and heartache I've had
Was easily cured — didn't hurt that badHe's owned no crown nor cepter
Less dowry, but we've been his center
The best gift a princess could ever have;
Hear ye, hear ye, my king is my dad
To the man who's always been my fixer, jester, and my protector, I love you. Thank you, dad.
