As promised, it is December 14th (yes it might be nightime, but whatever) and here is the chapter! I hope you like drama, because I may have exaggerated a tiny bit in this one.

Next update is Janurary 18th 2014 ;)

Chapter 18

Tara

Taking a deep breath, I turned the knob completely, pushed the door open and walked in. I braced myself to hear sounds of glass being smashed, or things being thrown to the ground and footsteps on the floor above, but no, there was nothing. All I heard was the very distinct sound of that of a crying newborn child. I suddenly felt paralysed. What should I do? Go up there and make it/him stop crying? Contact Ridge or Danicio to tell them what was going on? Run away while I still had the chance? It took me a lot longer than it should have to come up with a reasonable decision. Inhaling and then exhaling rather loudly, I slowly began to make my way up the staircase. When I arrived on the second floor, I more clearly heard the cries of the baby; they were coming from my bedroom. What was it doing there? Didn’t the egg need to be in water? Hadn’t Ridge said he’d put it in the sink? I could have stayed where I was, wondering whether or not my brother had lied to me, but I forced my mind to stay quiet as I walked towards my room. For a moment, I simply stood in front of the half open door, gathering up all my courage to push it open.

“Okay Tara, you can do this.” I said trying to cheer myself on.

I was scared, no questions about it, but I was also despite all odds very excited. Maybe this baby would give me the light in my life that I need right now. Ridge has become a merman, we might be getting Taiven back soon and above all I am still queen of the Upper Kingdom. Maybe this child had arrived just on time and is proof that things are in fact getting better. Decided, before I could think about it a second more, I pushed the door open.

I could see it, I mean him on my bed. He was so small and seemed so alone there on his back naked on my bed crying his lungs out, his arms and feet kicking up in the air. Finally, after a long wait of pure bafflement, I wasted no more time. I rushed into my room and picked up my son for the very first time.

Gabrielle

“I’ll be right back.” Gabrielle called out to her father and brother as she rapidly walked out of the house and hurried across the street, making sure that Auron hadn’t suddenly appeared out of nowhere and that her father wasn’t looking out the window.

She knocked on her neighbour’s door, and the queen’s brother that she vaguely recalled the name of answered. He immediately let her in and then shut the door. Inside the small house, it was total chaos. Guards were running around speaking to each other loudly all at the same time, many of them were talking into sea shells probably yelling at more guards, each merman was barking orders to another one but none seemed to be listening, it seemed as if no one had control over anything.

“What happened?” Gabrielle asked, baffled at the scene before her.

“Tara left, and we have no clue where she went.” The young man answered, putting his hands in his pockets. “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be waiting for Auron?”

Tearing her eyes away from the chaos, Gabrielle looked at the queen’s brother. “I don’t think I can go through with this.” She admitted to him, suddenly feeling very nervous. “What if Auron finds out that I’m actually working for you guys? I’m not just putting myself in danger, I’m putting my brother, my family and not to mention the whole Upper Kingdom! What if he decides to kill me?!”
