Sorry it took so long, this chapter was tough to write....
While I have your attention, do I have any Fault In Our Stars fans that are reading my story? If so, my Watty friend agilehushedpenguin wrote a decent Imperial Affliction novel and it would be awesome if you guys could go check it out.

So on the side I chose the song All of Me a cover by Kurt Hugo Schneider and as picture I chose a mermaid swimming in stormy waters.

Enjoy!

Chapter 23

Tara

I felt like I was dead in the water. I knew that I was floating, but I wasn’t able to feel the water against my skin and I couldn’t sense the freedom that being in the ocean usually gave me. It was strange and scary all at once. I couldn’t feel my legs or my tail, but I felt one of my arms and oh god it hurt. I couldn’t see it though, in fact I couldn’t see anything, everything around me was dark; where my eyes closed or did the world suddenly plunge into darkness? Feeling courageous I opened one eye and saw a faint light, I then opened the other one seeing no point in keeping it closed. My vision was rather cloudy, and yes my head did hurt quite a lot but I came to the conclusion that it was better to be in manageable pain than to be dead. I vaguely recalled what happened earlier today; all I recalled was being shot at yet again and Taiven falling to the ground right before my eyes. I tried contacting Taiven using our telepathic connection, but as usual I was unsuccessful. He was gone yet again and I was…where was I anyway? How long had I been here? With my vision not yet fully recovered, I did my best to analyze my surroundings, which was not easy because everything seemed to be lit by candle light. I was not in the Upper Kingdom that was for sure, nor was I anywhere else in the ocean. I was obviously on the surface… in a bathtub? Yes, I was definitely in a bathtub with very little water. Now the question was where. I looked up at the ceiling, there was no shower connected to the tub, unlike my house. Alright, so wasn’t at home, nor was I in the Upper Kingdom or the Deep. Was I still at Alacreed’s house? I looked around me again, no I wasn’t. The bathroom seemed much too luxurious to be a part of a simple house in Shelly Town. Was there a rich quarter that I didn’t know about? No, not that I recalled. Wait, what if I was no longer in Shelly Town? What if I had been abducted and I was going to be sold on the black-market?! I need to get out of here now! I tried hoisting myself up, but my tail didn’t seem to want to respond to my movement and I just slid further down into the tub. I then did my best to reposition myself and tried to get out of the bathtub again but my tail still did not respond. I then tried to simply move my tail from left to right, but it stayed in place. It was as if the command from my brain didn’t go down to the lower part of my body anymore. Was I paralyzed? Because that’s what paralysis was, right? A part of the body doesn’t listen to the brain anymore, or something? I didn’t go to college and my high school years were far behind me so I didn’t remember much of my science courses. Still, how was I supposed to get out of here if my tail was no longer obeying and one of my arms was in pain because of a bullet shot. So, using my one good arm, I tried using the tap to pull myself up but instead I fell right on my butt and created a wave that went over the side of the tub and splashed onto the floor making a mess. That’s when I got an idea. The bath was filled with salt water, and I was in mermaid form, that meant that I could easily float. Maybe if I filled up the tub enough, I’d be able to rise up with the water and then go over the edge Of course, the floor will be soaked with water and I’ll have to find a way to crawl out of the bathroom using only one arm, but it was still worth a try.
