1 | rebirth/puberty

a poem inspired by the idea that once upon a time i was my father's favourite, until i came of age and the illusion fell away

2 | ode to all the angry in my black woman body

inspired by the fact my second brother has never experienced racism the way i have.

here i talk about more often than not the fear of being seen as a stereotype is enough to myself a slave to silence

3 | when i am ungrateful for my roots

inspired by a poem called "natural tutorial" by portia bartley

and exploration my complicated relationship with my hair growing up - especially with my relaxed hair - but more so my complex relationship as my blackness as a whole.

4 | accidental lessons i learnt from my mother about motherhood

here i talk about my lack of desire to have biological children (i do really want to adopt kids however) because of my mother and all i learnt from her along the way to adulthood

5 | feminism is best served sunny side up

a poem about why i call myself (intersectional) feminist despite the implied whiteness of feminism, espically in a country that has a majority white populus.
