The air is thick with the smell of rain.
Ready to burst, and the dogwood petals
drift on the thick wind to kiss my lips.

The wind was as strong as I could
Remember it ever being.
A rushing current sent to flush out,
With its force and its sound,
All the memories that troubled me so much.

Light flitting in and out of
The dark and looming clouds.
Mimicking some glitter of hope
And better things it was to offer.

Yet those things remained veiled,
By a white and grey shroud.
But the sound, the sound was both
Terrifying and soothing.

I took solace in the fact
That it made me feel so at peace.
As if it could carry me away
In its tender invisible arms.
