Note: This is a part that takes place during the 'first meal together' event between Cadence and the emperor (Chapter XIV and Chapter XV)

I was re reading this story and I realised that there are many things I didn't really explain or answer such as the death of the sixth princess.

I also realised I kinda just made Cadence ignore and forget about this to conveniently develop the relationship between her and Klaus so this is my attempt to fix that Mary Sue aspect I created

If and when I finish this story I plan on re editing this book completly and moving this chapter to fit with the time line

You may see more chapters such as this and as ongoing readers it may be confusing so I apologise for this however re reading I realise these plot holes and want to at least try and patch them up.

Now on with the chapter!

----------------------

Alfred's POV (butler of Klaus)

I stood behind the door hiding as I watch this mess of a situation play on

I am an elderly man who has taken care of this  emperor for more then half of his life

He has always been quite the cold and dishonest boy. Even as a young prince many nasty rumours would be spread about him by the people envious of his position

Despite this he would not once speak out or even attempt to defend his reputation

When I asked him why he did not do so he would simply reply that it was "too bothersome" and he "did not care how other people thought of him."

It seems that this trait of his was something he inherited from his mother. That woman also did as she please with not a care or worry about the opinion of others

Both mother and son became quite the hated figures in the kingdom because of this

The emperor had appointed a shadow guard to Princess Cadence since her birth

His task is to protect and watch over her whilst reporting her situation and any significant events to the emperor.

A few moments ago the shadow guard had just come to see me with an important report for the emperor.

He told me about the events that had occurred before the princess had come and the rumour that had caused her immense anxiety in meeting the emperor.

After hearing about this I rushed to see the emperor however it seems I had been too late

When I arrived I saw the princess run past me with a pale face and wet, red eyes

She had been too distracted to notice my prescene and soon after the maid who accompanied her here rushed after her.

I glanced back in the dining room where the emperor still sat in complete silence.

His hands covered his eyes but I could see his lips quiver slightly. The emperor is quite expressionless however I have been with him long enough to know that he had been hurt.

It seems he has found someone who he finally wants to be seen as good in front of

The emperor is not good at interacting with others and there is no doubt that stupid man will not even attempt to clear his name to the princess

In that case it seems it is my duty to fix this mess

This palace is filled with corridors and corners thus the princess was able to easily lose her maid whom has never been here.
