Lost

Chapter 12

After an hour we come across a cave. After checking it cautiously I conclude that it's abandoned and we take cover. The sky has darkened with clouds and lightning streaks across the sky every so often. Toothless lays down towards the back of the cave and I lay against him. His wing is improving but he can't fly without his tail. I don't have anything to repair it with.
Rain starts to pour down outside. A cold burst of wind rushes into the cave and Toothless gestures towards his injured wing that is layed out on the cave floor. I know right away what he means and I slide under his wing and lay down closest to his body. The temperature immediately rises and I rest my head against the dirt ground.

I wake up to Toothless growling and nudging me with his side. I rub the drowsiness out of my eyes and crawl out from under his wing. It's still dark and pouring out. I look at Toothless. His teeth are showing and his eyes are glued to the cave entrance.
"Toothless? What is it bud?" He glances at me only to return his eyes to the entrance. I take out my sword and light it. I walk to the entrance of the cave but don't see anything. I look back and see Toothless's ears moving up and down. I turn back and close my eyes. I really focus on the sounds coming from the woods outside. Then very faintly I hear,
"Hip." It sounds like a whisper. My eyes pop open and I stare out side.
"Hip." I can't hear exactly what the noise is. Then very faintly but clearly I hear,
"Hello?"
Someone is out there! I turn my sword off. I don't know if the person is a friend or an enemy yet. I don't want to draw them towards my cave.
"Hicp!"
I look back at Toothless and see his teeth retract and ears pop up. He starts to squirm and attempt to get up but I signal to him to stay and be quiet. Then I hear my name.
