I tell him about Toothless which receives a lot of questions about how I ride dragons. Apparently they only have small harmless dragons deeper in the forest. They call them Night Crawlers. That's what attacked me that one night. I tell him everything from the flight up to the point he showed up. I told him about Astrid and how his evil chief took her from me. Then I told him about my fever and leg. After I finished he just sat there for a few minutes before finally speaking.
"That's harsh. How do you plan on getting her back?"
I sigh heavily and lean my head on my knees.
"I have no idea." I state.
"Hey I could probably sneak around and help her get out. They know me so I won't seem too suspicious. I could find out where they're keeping her and we could form a plan based off of what I find out," he suggests.
"That could actually work!"
I start to form a plan in my head as I watch Patch grin. It's a goofy grin. The grin of a young teen.
"Hey Patch how old are you?"
"15 and proud of it," he states. Wow. Now that I look at him I can see the small amount of innocence in his eyes, hidden behind years of being alone.
I felt bad for him. Then a crazy idea popped in my head.
"Hey Patch?"
"Um yeah? What is it?"
A grim spreads across my face for what I'm about to ask him.
"When this is all over, how'd you like to come back to Berk with me?"
I watch the shock register across his face slowly turn into complete joy.
"Wait, like seriously? This isn't some cruel joke right?"
"Of course not!"
"Then ya! This is awesome! I could get my own dragon! Man this is gonna be sweet!"
I laugh as he gets up and jumps around the room with an energetic expression.
"This is so cool! I can have my own dragon and name it something cool and do cool tricks in the air. I wouldn't have to worry about this dark creepy village anymore. And I could meet everyone! I'd finally have friends again! Oh this is so rad! Oh! And-" I smile as he continues blabbering on about Berk. Then the room starts to spin and I lean my head in between my knees and groan as the headache returns with more pressure than before. Not now! I have to push this aside! I have more urgent matters to deal with like saving Astrid and returning to Berk. I cannot pass out again. I can't... I can't. I can hear someone calling my name in the distance. It's so dark. I'm so tired. But I can't fall asleep! Wait, why can't I fall asleep? Sleep is good, right? Yes, sleep is good right now. My thoughts fog up and I feel myself fall backwards, hitting my head on the hard floor. Then I'm falling into an abyss of nothing.
