Hiccup's pov:

I'm sprinting towards the direction of the tree house when the sound of an explosion ricochets through the trees. I stop dead in my tracks. A faint glow is seen through the trees in the distance.
"No," I gasp, realizing the explosion is in the direction of the tree house. Then I'm sprinting faster than ever, trying to prepare my self for all the horrible outcomes that I might find.

Five minutes later I break through the trees and stare in horror at the sight before me. The tree house is ablaze with burning hot flames. Everything is obviously destroyed inside it. I feel Toothless come up silently behind me with Stormfly following close behind. Then it hits me like a brick. What if Astrid was in there? And Patch?
"Astrid!" I shout around me but don't get a response. Oh Thor where is she! I refuse to believe she was in that tree before it exploded. I feel a wet substance slide down the side of my face and I realize that I'm sweating from the sprinting and the heat from the fire.
"Hiccup!"
My head snaps up and I look over to where the voice came from. That sounded a lot like...
"Hiccup!"
Then a girl appears from the trees on the other side of the burning tree and starts sprinting towards me, her blonde hair flowing behind her from her unhooded head. My feet move for me and I'm sprinting to meet her half way. I open my arms and we collide into eachother.
"Astrid! Oh thank Thor!" I shout as I pick her up and spin her around in my arms. Then we just stand there enveloped within eachother's arms. She has her face buried in my shoulder and mine is in her hair. I breathe in her scent that I've missed so much. (Not in a creepy way)
"Hiccup," she whimpers into my neck. I suddenly feel her shake in my arms and I break our hug, holding her arms length away.
From the light of the fire I see tears escape her beautiful eyes and slide slowly down her face. Oh how I've missed those beautiful eyes of hers.
"Hey, hey it's okay. I'm here now. I'm here beautiful, why the tears?" I gently say as I use my thumb to wipe away her tears. She leans into my hand and sighs. Then she smiles and looks back up at me.
"I thought you were dead."
She says it like she really believed it were true. I'm taken aback from what she says but I quickly recover and smile. I lean forward and slowly kiss her forehead, feeling her lean against my lips. She puts her arms around my neck and I pull back to look into her eyes.
"I never left you."
Then my lips crash with hers. Warmth spreads through my body. She kisses back as her hand travels to my hair and my hand rests against her cheek. We sigh into eachother's mouths, forgetting about our current situation. It's a sweet kiss, unlike any we've had before. I can feel all of Astrid's emotions pour into me at once; fear but courage, relief but despair, joy but sadness, hurt but healed. And most of all, love. It flows through my veins, giving me life and giving my heart a purpose to beat.
I break the kiss to peck her cheek and pull her into my arms again.
"I love you so much Astrid," I mumble into her ear. I can feel her smile.
"I love you more dragon boy." She replies. I feel her arms shift behind my back and then her body jerks back.
"Ah!" She faintly grunts in pain. I pull back to look at her with worry in my eyes.
"What's wrong? Are you hurt?"
"I kinda broke my wrist..." She exclaims as she brings it up to show me. My jaw drops as I stare at the purple and black skin.
"And I have a bad concussion.." She whispers faintly. I know she hates admitting she's in pain. I look back up and kiss her forehead.
"I'm so sorry I let this happen to you," I apologize. She pulls back to stare into my eyes.
"Hiccup it wasn't your fault. Don't apologize."
I smile back at her and kiss her cheek.
"You look better," she smiles at me.
"I feel better, now that I'm with you."
I wrap her in a gentle hug, being careful of her wrist.
"Ahem! You're welcome!"
I turn with my arm around Astrid's waist to see Patch dramatically bowing. I laugh as I let go of Astrid and walk over to the teen.
"You are insane, but thanks, bro."
I see his smile grow at the last word I said. I grab his head in a head lock and ruffle his hair, earning a fit of laughter and "stop!"s from the boy. I let go only to pull Patch into a hug. He tightens his arms around me and we stay like that for a few seconds.
"Thank you, really," I say to him. We separate and he lightly punches my arm.
"Hey, that's what bros are for!"
I laugh at his goofy expression, but the mood doesn't last long before a scream quickly demands my attention.
