*Scott Lansky's POV*

The warmth of the lazy afternoon beckoned the drowsiness in me as I laid in the ward. Restlessness has been a companion of mine lately. There was a familiar sound of heels rattling from afar towards my bed, I lifted my heavy lids slightly when the sound stopped before my bed.

I snickered at the lady who stood before me with sarcasm, "Look who's here."

She sighed heavily before she sat by my bed and pleaded, "It's been so many years, can't you just forgive your Mother?"

"Why do you even plead for forgiveness when you're the one who insisted on leaving back then," I retorted impassively.

Disheartened, she swallowed the lump down her throat and diverted the topic, "Alright, let's not talk about this. I was worried sick to the guts when I learned from your sister about you..."

She broke into a state of sobbing before she could even complete her sentence, but this just doesn't stop me from showing her the indifference that I always had towards her ever since she left my father and her children for another married man 20 years ago. Not only did she destroyed us, but she also wrecked the family of that married man too. Because of her shameless adultery intrusion into others marriage, she caused the wife of that married man to fall into depression and that killed her eventually, leaving her child without his mother at a young age.

She wiped her tears and snorted, "I'm sorry... I just want to let you know I will always be here for you, don't give up on hope, my child."

"Didn't think that Lisa would still remember this brother here," I snickered, thinking back on how estranged we have become.

*Claire Kinsley's POV*

The next day, I decided to try my luck again with Liam. After all, he is the only hope to save Scott at this moment, I can't ruin this up for him just because I lost my cool yesterday.

God... Please knock some sense into him, please make this work.

I prayed hard in my mind before I knocked on the door to Liam's office.

"Please come in," He responded from inside.

As expected Liam had his head dug at work, there was this serious brood that he wore on his face as he flipped through the documents in his hands. Honestly, I have always known Liam as a person with a forever calm and compose persona, it is almost rare to have anything that could shake this persona of him. I guess this project really meant a lot to him and this does make me feel guilty for interrupting his work, but saving Scott is still of utmost importance now.

I cleared my throat and that finally caught his attention as he lifted his head up to me.

"Claire?" He uttered as mixed feelings claimed his face.

"I... I'm here to persuade you for the same favour that I ask of you yesterday." I rattled it out of my mouth in one string, avoiding eye contact with him, as I lacked the courage to even face yet another rejection from him again.

"Claire... I..." He breathed heavily.

"Please... You're the only who can save Scott now," I continued to plead pathetically.

Then without warning, the door to Liam's office swung open and a well-dressed aged woman stride across the room in her heels towards us.

"Liam, please... please save Scott, please save my son..." The woman begged him with teary eyes.

What on earth is happening? Is she Scott's mother?!

Liam was stunned at first but within a few seconds there was this look of vengeance and disdain as he looked at the woman.
