|| i know what you did last night ||
you came home
earlier than ever
i was busy
laying knives and forks
on the dining table
i felt your hands
wrapping around
my fatigued body
it was a cold embrace.
we had an unusual dinner
you talked a lot, smiled a lot
my eyebrows weren't the only things
that were raised.
get ready now
with a pretty gown
you whispered
with a foxy smile.
you never had
your hands
in your pockets
but you did
as i walked down
the stairs creaked
ferociously
you took my hand
planted a kiss.
we drove down the town
in your polished maserati
you waved to all your friends
the moon hid behind the clouds.
you tucked me to bed
i'm a little child you said
as a smile crept onto your face
that was when i noticed
you had a new scar
across your lip
but why did it smell like
cherry blossom
and not like blood?
my eyes fluttered open
the stairs creaked again
but i was not the one
walking down that time.
heard your maserati
rev back into life again
i laid in bed
staring at
your empty side.
now we sit face to face
as you compliment
my "well-done" breakfast
and i smile.
you say i didn't have to
do the laundry today
the laundry shop will do
and i smile.
a gentleman meeting tonight
tell me to shut the doors close
before i go to sleep
and i smile.
you drive away
as i stand
at the gates
the smile never fades
but your love fades
i keep smelling
infidelity in this house
because my darling --
i know what you did last night.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
me: i'm well prepared for the exam today
my mom with the broomstick: my darling, i know what you did last night
