Laid down in the foetal position he could hear his own breathing and the thump of his heart in his ears. With blinking eyes he slowly became aware of the feint grey light that filtered in. It was not immediately apparent, but when he stirred himself by propping his body up on one hand he gradually became mindful of focusing on something close to him - it was a translucent wall totally surrounding him. Whilst not completely spherical, as he reached out to touch it its elastic surface it yielded to the pressure of his hand. Indeed, the whole of this semi-ridged membrane responded to his prodding and probing.
