fiona

she stretches, the scent of scrambled eggs filling her nostrils. damn, she's hungry. she doesn't remember much of last night, only that she drank too much, and that some korean kid gave her advil and water.

him and his girlfriend stand in the kitchen chatting quietly. she gets up slowly and trudges towards them. "thank you for making sure i didn't do anything else stupid last night."

the korean boy nods with a reassuring tilt of the corner of his lips. "it's fine. do you remember what you said?"

"oh no," she curses under her breath, cheeks flushed in awkwardness. "i am so sorry—"

"it's fine. i'm preston."

"fiona."

the girlfriend waves, also obviously uncomfortable. "vivian."

"so where'd you get this place?" fiona spins on her swivel chair, looking around. "it's so nice, and you look like you're in college. how can you afford this?"

preston's eyes darken, and he switches his gaze back to the eggs. "someone gave it to me."

fiona is good at reading people, but this boy isn't as easy as most people she's analyzed.

he sets their meal on plates and begins eating as if nothing ever happened.
