Donna Taranto

Donna Taranto, artist, illustrator, and poet, grew up on Eastern Long Island, NY as Donna Cosgrove. Along with her four sisters, she was raised by her grandparents Emma and Harry, and her father Donald. She developed a love of drawing at age 7. She spent hours at a time drawing in her room and at times, even used her sisters as models for her drawings. In high school, she excelled in Art and Advertising Art programs. Donna holds an Associate's Degree in Applied Science for Paralegal Studies.

Residing in Huntington, NY with her husband James Taranto and daughter Taylor, Donna has worked at Good Samaritan Hospital since 2002, where she uses her artistic skills to create brochures, bookmarks and poetry. Her poems have been published in the HPNA Expressions Online Publication, the Annual 2014 - A Poetry Anthology, and Great South Bay Magazine.

Her collaboration with Alexander Bentley has broken new ground for her as an artist and illustrator and has enabled her to stretch her capabilities to think outside her comfort zone, which she believes is the best way for artists to grow. These black and white illustrations, while challenging to draw, enabled her to see objects in the negative and capture it in a whole new way. As an artist, Donna's message is clear:

Don't be afraid to evolve.
