"syd!" stan called, holding ally's arm as she slipped in the mud, almost taking stan down with her.
"how did-" ally started, watching the girl storm up to them.
"i mean, you... you just—" stan tried as well, dumbfounded.
"they were like this when i got there, i swear." sydney lied, gesturing to the fallen trees. "they were."
"no, no. no, i— we saw it, syd." stanley shook his head.
"well, you guys better keep this a secret, okay?" sydney shouted over the sound of the rain. "not a fucking word! got it?"
stanley pushed ally behind him in a protective manner, making her squint at him in confusion.
"promise me, please!" she shouted again.
"we promise!" ally said, looking up at stan who started nodding.
"okay, i promise syd."
sydney walked away, leaving the two teenagers confused as hell.
