Ariana Grande closed out the first weekend of Coachella on the highest note, bringing along several surprise guests and her entire catalog for the ride. As fans continue to celebrate special appearances from *NSYNC and Nicki Minaj, others have expressed their sympathy for Nicki, who faced sound issues during her duet with Ariana.
During the past few years, Nicki and Ariana have made a habit of working together on music, including the recently released single "Bed." On Sunday at Coachella, the rapper joined Ariana to perform their singles "Side to Side" and "Bang Bang." Still, Nicki was unable to hear the music in her earpieces, Variety reports.
In a video of the performance, Ariana repeatedly says, "We can't hear anything," and she later points to her ear. The clip also shows Nicki attempting to complete her verses, but Ariana continues to note their inability to hear, and both later share a smile about the situation.
Fans made light of the technical difficulties, turning the situation into a meme about being best friends, tweeting, "Me and my friend trying to rap along with Ariana in 7 rings at 2:00 AM."
Others also offered Nicki encouragement, tweeting, "i feel so bad for the technical difficulties that were happening during nicki's performance... but she still did amazingly and she never fails to impress," and "I feel bad for Nicki Minaj, she couldn't hear herself but kudos to @ArianaGrande for bringing her out! Loved it."
Ariana and Nicki have not yet addressed the technical difficulties, but with the second weekend of Coachella set to begin on Friday, we're sure that fans are in for another memorable weekend.

"Girl, you're single and ready to mingle, but I think I found you a husband," I said to Ariana as we drove to the restaurant to meet Jay and Ariana's blind date.
"Who is he? What does he do? How tall is he?" Ariana asked.
I chuckled.
"He's a part of a K-pop boy group, so he's a singer and rapper; He's tall enough for you," I answered.
"Is he a part of BTS?" She asked.
I shook my head no.
"No, ma'am," I replied.
Ariana sighed.
"Thank God, I love BTS, but I could not date a member." She said.
"I feel you," I said.
"But who is it, though?" She asked.
I smirked.
"You'll see once we get there," I answered.
