Damian sighed as he ended the call. He had been looking forward to spending another Christmas with Marinette, only for her to call and say her trip was cancelled. Something had apparently happened with the bakery and they didn't have the money to fly her out that year. Damian had offered to buy her ticket, but Marinette had refused.

"Damian, I'm not with you for your money. I don't need you to spoil me. Sure; it'll suck that I can't see you until spring break, but we'll get through this. I can at least still send you Christmas present out when I finish it." Marinette declared.

Everyone in the manor had been saddened by the news. They had looked forward to decorating gingerbread houses with her and drinking hot chocolate by the fire as Jason read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, but they could tell it upset the Wayne heir the most.

"Damian." Bruce called, "Follow me."

Damian wordlessly got out of his seat in front of the fireplace and trudged behind his father to his home office.

Bruce walked around his desk and took a seat. Damian stood firm in front of the desk, unsure of what was needed of him. Bruce opened his desk and pulled out a red envelope with a small green bow. Silently, he slid it across the desk.

"Father?" Damian questioned.

"Open it." his father smiled.

Damian frowned and took the envelope from the desk. He took the letter opener and carefully sliced it open. He pulled out a paper and turned it around: it was a ticket to Paris. Damian stared at the ticket in his hands.

"Just because she can't come here, Damian, doesn't mean you can't see her." Bruce spoke.

Damian turned to see him behind him. He hadn't even heard him move. He hadn't notice any movements and he had stood it front of him.

Bruce knew Damian would deny it to his dying breath, but it shocked him more then anything, when Damian hugged him tightly. He didn't need to hear any confirmation to know how much this meant to his youngest. This action alone, proved it. Bruce smiled at his son, buried in his chest, and patted his head.

"Make sure you have everything you need; it's a red eye flight." Bruce whispered.

Damian pulled away and rushed out of the office.

'That girl is gonna end up a Wayne; I know it.'

Everyone could tell that Marinette wasn't in her usual holiday spirit. She hadn't commented anyone on their ugly sweaters; she hadn't even worn one of hers, yet. They had seen how excited she was; she was counting down the days until Christmas, like a kid expecting to see Santa. Her mood seemed to shift, just as the snow fell. No one knew what had spoiled her mood. Marinette wasn't speaking to anyone about why her holiday had taken a turn, but they were worried.

Did a relative pass away? Had something happened to her parents? Was everything alright with the bakery?

Marinette gathered her things and left when the bell sounded.

"Should we ask her?" Adrien questioned.

"I already asked; she doesn't wanna talk." Alya sighed, "She's been silent all day. Hell, she's been silent for weeks."

"Maybe, if we all ask her together, she'll see just how worried we are about her." Nino offered.

"Yeah! That's a great idea, Nino!" cried Adrien.

They nodded and took off to the front gates, only to see Mari stand still at the top. She seemed shocked. Before they could ask what was wrong, Marinette sprinted down the steps. A boy with dark hair dropped his suitcase and caught her as she fell forward, on the last two steps.

"Merry Christmas, Habibiti." he spoke.

Marinette gripped his scarf and pulled the boy down into a kiss.

"How?" They heard Mari question.

"Father bought me a ticket since you couldn't visit me this year." the guy announced.

"You were a Grumpy Kitty again, weren't you?" Marinette questioned.

Damian glared at her, but she ignored his glare and booped his nose.

"But you're my Grumpy Kitty and I wouldn't have you any other way." she smiled, "Let me take you home."

"Shouldn't I be the one requesting that?" he asked.

"Well, I-" Marinette began, awkwardly chuckling.

"Only if your parents allow it. I wouldn't want to impose or worry them." Damian spoke.

"They know you would never hurt me." she stated, "Come on, Grumpy, I'll make you a very happy kitty when we get in."

Damian grabbed his bags and followed her lead, unknowingly, leaving her friends with more questions then answers.
