lost in your control (A Shakespearean Sonnet)

Why do you have to control me,

Pierce me, hard of heart?

Just let me be lost, but free,

So long as we're apart.

Sometimes your stare leaves me thinking,

But I tend to lose your gaze.

Sometimes your voice leaves me singing,

A choir it will raise.

I remember when your grasp wasn't strong,

I was able to wriggle free.

I didn't realize I was wrong,

That you didn't want to hurt me.

Now I lie at night, unable to move in my bed,

Every reason for my hatred, lost in my head.
