"Hey um before we go, could I just quickly use your phone to call someone?" Adira asked Robin who nodded her head almost instantly and pointed over to the phones as she suddenly remembered what day it was.

"Yeah yeah of course, we will just wait outside," Robin replied to Adira who smiled back at her as she motioned over to her own phone.

"Don't take too long, we need to get out there before it gets too dark," Steve said and pointed his finger at her before they all made their way over to the door. He pulled his jacket over his shoulders and turned off the lights to the store

"Yes mum," Adira replied sarcastically before rolling her eyes with a grin and then making her way back over to one of the phones. Everyone else went outside while she dialed in the number that she was looking for.

The phone rang a few times before there was a small click and a masculine voice came through the phone, "Hello? This is the Byers's residence," the voice said, he sounded kind of sad which made Adira's smile falter slightly

"Hey Will! its Adira!" She exclaimed into the phone in her usual cheery voice, hoping that she was just imagining the sad tone

"Hey Addy," Will replied, a smile coming to his face and his voice sounding more happy almost instantly, "is everything okay?" he asked her, confused as to why she was calling, maybe she was checking up on Eleven or Mike or something and making sure that Mike had arrived safely.

"Yeah yeah, of course, I don't have long but I just wanted to say happy birthday!" Adira practically sang into the phone. Will felt his heart warm up as happiness flowed through him, his day had been absolute shit but of course, Adira Harrington was there to make it all better.

Nobody had seemed to remember his birthday, not even his own mother or brother. None of the people that he was actually living with had been able to remember that it was his birthday and yet here she was.

Adira, a 17-year-old girl who was nowhere near him, hadn't seen him in months and didn't even know who he was up until a few years ago, calling him on his birthday. "You remembered," he choked out with a thankful sob

Adira's grin was quickly replaced with a wide frown, "Hey hey hey, is everything okay? You sound upset," Adira quickly cooed into the phone, worried about the boy on the other lend who was supposed to be having the time of his life with his best friend who had just flown over to see him

"Yeah of course, I think I'm just a bit tired or something," Will lied to her through the phone but he knew that she could tell that he was lying, even through the phone

"Don't lie to me Byers," the girl demanded softly, "did something happen? I know that you arent as close to me as you are with some of your other friends, but you know that you can always talk to me right? about literally anything, no judgement," she reasoned with him, hoping that he would open up and tell her what was wrong so that she could try and make him feel better.

"Yeah, of course I know that," Will said and nodded his head even though she couldnt see him. Whenever one of the younger kids seemed to have a problem, they often went to Adira. She always seemed to know what to say to make it all feel better, and she wasn't afraid to deal with a problem that one of them were facing. She was a giant softy on the inside with a fierce and protective shell on the outside

Will Byers had been to hell and back, and the last thing he needed right now was to be sad on his birthday, so she planned on changing that. "Did something happen? Is it school? Do I need to fly down there and beat the sense into some of those little rich kids down there? You know, I still have that baseball bat and I'm not afraid to shove it up some kids asshole," Adira asked through the phone, attempting to cheer the kid up, thought she was being relatively serious too.
