Matteo's pov

I've taken the last couple of days off from the office to stay home with the twins. After what happened, they need me. I make sure they take their pain medications and are getting plenty of rest. It's also been a good opportunity to spend time with them. We've watched movies and played board games. The last couple of days have been calm, the extra security have been double and triple checking anyone and everyone that come in and out of the house. Pietro temporarily moved all business out of the house so there isn't an excess of people around the house and more importantly, around the twins.

"Alright, bambina, time to check the stitches," I said as I stepped into Ali's room (bambina-baby)

"Okay," Ali called softly,

"Alright, tesoro, lift your shirt for me," I said, (treasure),

"Okay, everything looks alright. How does it feel? Any pain?" I asked,

"No, no pain," Ali said,

"Alright, then everything checks out. We'll be able to take the stitches out in a couple of days if it continues to heal up nicely," I said,

"Okay," Ali said,

"So, what does the piccola principessa want to do today?" I asked, (Little princess)

"Watch a movie?" Ali asked,

"Sure, anything for you, angelo," I said, (Angel)

"Matt, can I ask you something," Ali asked,

"You just did," I said,

"I'm serious," Ali said,

"Okay, I'm all ears, sorellina," I said, (Little sister)

"Could you teach me some italian?" Ali asked,

"Why the sudden interest?" I asked,

"Well, because you, Pietro, Enzo, Luka, Emilio, Antonio, and Seb all speak italian and I wanted to learn some too. Just a couple of words or phrases," Ali said,

"If you really want to learn italian, then I can teach you," I said,

"Yay, so tell me what you called me earlier," Ali said,

"Okay, bambina means baby and that's the feminine form, bambino is the masculine form. Tesoro means treasure, piccola principess means little princess, and angelo means angel," I explained,

"How do you say brother in italian?" Ali asked,

"Brother in italian is fratello, older brother is fratellone, and little brother is fratellino," I said,

"How about sister?" Ali asked,

"Sister is sorella, older sister is sorella maggiore, and little sister is sorellina," I said,

"Who taught you italian?" Ali asked,

"Mom and Dad always spoke italian around the house and we had italian lessons with a tutor twice a week," I said,

Did you like the lessons?" Ali asked,

"Yeah, it was part of who we are and it was important to our parents," I said,

"I wonder why she never taught us italian," Ali said,

"She never spoke italian?" I asked,

"No, we never even knew she could speak a second language," Ali said,

"Maybe she always intended to tell you everything some day," I said,

"Well, now we'll never know," Ali said bitterly,
