everyone is now present at the hospital, at aeri's room.
"she opened her eyes!" luna squeals. remi runs to her.
"aeri! i always told you to be careful while crossing the road. you're so careless!" everyone chuckles. "okay, not now!" yujin says.
"oh- that was a dream then.." aeri utters.
"what?" luna asks.
"nothing," aeri shakes her head slightly.
"why do you look so sad, what!"
"i bought you your favourite cheese cake!"
"i almost died when i heard the news, stupid."
the room is filled with laughter, cheerful talks and smiley faces.
but there's niki at one corner, standing and witnessing all of it with a smile on the corner of his lips and sparkling eyes.
just like how he always was. behind the screen, looking after her.
at least she is okay.
"hey!" jangmi shouts out of nowhere beside him. niki almost had a heart attack. "what the heck, jangmi! you scared the hell out of me!"
jangmi's face changes from a cheerful one to a calm one. she faintly smiles. "always from afar? why, niki?"
"that's what i am supposed to be," he utters. "that is my role here." he smiles. a smile that tells the acceptance of the reality. his reality.
"why don't you tell her everything?"
"i will."
