"Well Rose, the next few days are going to be very busy, as it is Luke's 7th birthday." Mrs Williams said as I handed over the NDA form
Of course how could I forget, 24th of March, 2016 the day my life changed forever, one of the happiest days of my life, the day I became a mother.
"Wow Luke , 7 huh, that's a big number
"Yea that's what my Dad said"
Next Morning as reached the penthouse, Charles had already left. It was better this way. The NDA clearly stated that Charles would not have any sort of communication with the foresaid Babysitter
As I entered the house, Luke came running to me
"Hiiii Rose!!!"
" Hey Luke , let's get down to business" I wanted to celebrate Luke's birthday in the best way possible.
I handed him a notebook and pencil and said "Luke, I want you to sit down and write all the things you want to do on your birthday. The type of cake, the decoration-
"DINOSAURS" Luke cut me off
"Notebook young man!! Where's Mrs Williams Sweetie?" I asked him
"In the kitchen"
I went into the kitchen where Mrs Williams was standing against the floor to ceiling length windows .
"I guess every kid has a dinosaur phase" I said cheerfully"
She didn't reply. In fact she didn't even notice me entering the kitchen
"Mrs Williams? Kathy?" She seemed so lost in her own thoughts
I went up to the windows and tapped gently on her shoulder .She turned around
"Rose!" She turned
" oh my God Kathy... are you crying " her face was red and her eyes were swollen as if she'd been crying for the past 12 hours
"What happened "
Rose ... she started explaining with stuttered voice
My husband... had a heart attack last night
"Oh god! I'm so sorry Kathy.. how is he now ? " I asked, concerned
"Yea he's stable now, it's just, there's no one at the hospital right now ....and mr Leclerc is at an event .....and the kids are alone
"They are not alone. Go Kathy, I'll look after the kids"
"You sure? It's not in your job description to stay past 6pm"
"don't worry"
"What about Mr Leclerc?"
"I'll talk to him" I said hesitantly.
"thank you Rose"
"I'll pray for Mr Williams"
"Thankyou"
She took her handbag kissed the kids goodbye and left.
The penthouse felt empty as soon as she left.
It was just me Luke and Juliana. There was a sense of peace in me. Is this how it would feel if things were different? If I was never separated from my kids?
When I went to the play room Like asked me "where's Mrs Kathy?"
"Umm she had to go because she had an emergency "
"What's an emergency ?" Juliana asked
"Emergency is a situation where you have drop everything and act immediately
"What Happened ?"
"Umm her husband got sick"
"How?"
"Guys!" I exclaimed changing the subject "I'm on my way to the kitchen to make cookies " who's in?"
"Me!!" They both said in unison
Down at the kitchen table I pulled out two seats. Luke was able to sit on his own but Juliana was still short. So I picked her up and helped her to sit.
"So young man.." I asked Luke while cracking the eggs "is your list ready?"
"Yes Rose"
"Okay start"
"Firstly I want a huge forest
"Forest... got it" I said with a smile
"With lots of trees"
"Lots and lots of trees
"And a cake with dino bones"
"Bones...done" We all were laughing playfully while I mixed the batter.
Suddenly there was a huge shadow in front of me and before I could even look up I heard a deep hoarse voice
"Savannah..."
