- the same night -
After a long ten minutes, we finally pulled away from each other.
" I have the footage from that night. " I said blankly
" How the hell you did that? " Devale asked as he rubbed my sides
" After you told me that you felt like you were drugged, I asked the owner of the club to send me the footage so we can watch and see what really happened " I said
" Are you sure you want to watch it with me? I know you don't want to see me in that element. I don't want to end up breaking you all over again" he said
" I'll be okay. Let's just watch it together and find out what really happened. " I said picking at my fingers.
I soon walked away to go get my laptop from out of my bag. Once I grabbed it, I headed back to the living room and sat down on the couch.
Devale sat beside me and waited for me to pull up the clip. As soon as I found the file , clicked on it.
" you ready ? " I asked him because he looked skeptical.
" I just don't want to hurt you again Renee. I don't want you to watch me make the biggest mistake of my life. " he said as he grabbed my hand
" I will be okay Devale." I said and I pressed play.
As we're watching the clip, we saw him sitting down waiting for his friends. Eventually they show up and started talking about God knows what. A couple of minutes goes by and this one guy gets up.
" who is that? " i asked as i paused the video
" that's my homeboy Cam. We've been friends since college. " he said
" okay where did he leave off to ? " I asked as I scan over his " homeboy ".
" he went to go get everyone shots but it was weird because he wasn't taking them. " Devale said and I nodded.
I moved my screen around to where we can see Cam at the bar. As I'm watching him, I noticed he pulled something out of it his pocket and dumped it in the shots.
" Cam did it . " I said closing the laptop.
" he did what? " Devale asked looking confused.
" Cam drugged you. He pulled something out of his pocket and dumped it in the shots. He probably sent that girl after you too. " I said as I brushed through my curls with my fingers
" She did look familiar. Cam came in with a group of girls but I didn't think nothing of it. Why would he purposely drug me and send some random ass chick my way? Isn't that some kind of assault? " Devale asked looking my way
" Technically yes. You were drugged, she took advantage of that. Both of them can get charged with infliction of bodily harm, and sexual harassment. " I said
" I can't believe this shit.." Devale said
" Well believe it. What you want me to do? " I asked
" What do you mean?" He asked
" Do you want to take it to court or handle it yourself? I say take Cam to court, let me beat that bitch ass, and then take her to court. " I said crossing my arms.
" Whatever you want baby is what we will do. I'm still trying to process it. We've been boys since college so I'm trying to get to the bottom of why would he drug me." He said
" He did it because he's deranged. There's no bottom for you to get to. I will call our lawyers tomorrow so we can get on board. " I said standing up.
" Where are you going? " He asked pulling me back down.
" I'm going to take a shower and then to sleep afterwards. What? Is there more you need to tell me? " I asked standing back up.
" No I just.. I just wanted to see what does this mean for us now. Can I come back home? I miss my wife and them hotel pillows ain't as thick as you. I can't cuddle with them." He said and I let out a laugh
" Yes Devale, you can come back home." I said and he jumped up and down with excitement.
" I love you so much Renee and I will never hurt you like that ever again. It broke me seeing you in so much pain, especially knowing I'm the reason for it. But I promise you, that will never happen again because I'm not going out no more unless I'm with you. " He said
" I love you too baby but don't blame yourself for that. It's not your fault that you got drugged. I mean you should have brought your ass home when you felt something wasn't right but still it's not entirely your fault. " I said rubbing his beard.
" I hear what you're saying but no, I'm not going to risk it. I rather be under you than be out anyways. " he said rubbing my sides.
" okay babe. Well I'm about to go take a shower, I'll see you upstairs. " I said about to walk away but he stopped me.
" One more thing before you go.. since your birthday is coming up, I booked us a flight that leaves at 5 in the morning. So once you're out of the shower, start packing." He said
" How long are we going to be away? " I asked excitedly
" 2 weeks. " he said bluntly
" We can't be away from the kids for 2 weeks Devale. " I said
" The hell we can't. We need some time for ourselves. These past two months have been hell Renee, I just need you all to myself. Can I please have you all to myself baby? " he said as he started leaving trails of kisses down my neck.
" well when you put it like that.. " I said letting out a giggle
" My parents already agreed to keeping them so you don't have to worry about the kids. All you have to do is take your fine ass upstairs and go pack." he said sending a hard smack to my ass.
" okay. " I said with a wide smile.
