Ennik sat in her bedroom, engrossed in a book and listening to music, when her sister Nari abruptly barged in.

"What the actual fuck," Ennik exclaimed, removing her headphones. "What do you want?" she asked.

"Leena is visiting us tomorrow; they're staying with us 'cause they don't want to pay for hotels or some shit," Nari informed her.

"They?" Ennik questioned, as Leena typically came to LA alone. "Oh yeah, her whole family is coming-her mom, her dad-" Before Nari could finish, Ennik interjected, "A dad! Damn, they have a father figure," she sarcastically exclaimed, feigning surprise. Nari chuckled. "She has a brother, your age, remember Walker?" Nari added.

"Of course, I remember him. I almost broke his hand when we were eleven. You guys keep reminding me of it," Ennik said, rolling her eyes, as Nari laughed, recalling the time Walker and Ennik fought over the last pizza slice.

"Anyways, I'm going to bed. They're coming early morning, so I have to pick up the gang," Nari announced, throwing a peace sign and walking out. "Close the dang door!" Ennik yelled, but there was no response. "Fuck you!" she yelled as she got up to close the door.

As Ennik continued reading and listening to music, her thoughts became a distracting undercurrent. She pondered what the Scobells were like. While she had met them a few times before, Leena and Nari attended the same school during the period Nari lived with her dad. Nari was the only one who truly knew their dad, the only one he ever paid attention to. However, he disappeared completely two years ago.

Ennik felt content and grateful for her mom, two sisters, and her half-sister Hannah. Though they didn't communicate frequently, she still regarded Hannah as a sister. At 19, Hannah worked on something significant, often residing in NYC where Nicole lived, fostering a close bond between them.

Yet, Ennik couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have a dad who genuinely cared.

In the room, her sisters and mom made an entrance - Nicole recording while her mom engaged in a phone call. Ennik removed her headphones.

"Ennik," Nicole sang her name, "we have news for you."

"Remember that role you auditioned for?" her mom added, still holding her phone. Ennik nodded, now fully attentive.

Well, you may have gotten the role," her mom revealed. Ennik was shaken; she got up, unable to contain her excitement. "Oh my god, you're joking, aren't you?" she exclaimed, covering her mouth in shock. Nicole rushed to hug her sister, and Ennik couldn't help but cry from happiness. Her mom joined in the embrace, saying, "I'm so proud of you!"

The room echoed with a mixture of joy, laughter, and even a few happy tears as Ennik absorbed the magnitude of the news. Her dream role, something she had passionately pursued, was now within reach.

Nicole, still enveloping her sister in a tight hug, couldn't hide her excitement. "You're going to be amazing, Ennik! I can already see it!"

Their mom, emotional and beaming with pride, gently pulled away from the hug. "This is such a significant achievement, Ennik. Your hard work is paying off."

Ennik, wiping away tears of joy, managed to express her gratitude amid the overwhelming emotions. "Thank you, Mom. Thank you both. I can't believe this is happening."

As the excitement settled, plans and details about the upcoming opportunity unfolded, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and celebration in the room.
