"CLICHÉ CONFESSIONS."

october, 2023

LE'ANA COULDN'T HELP BUT run after Paige the minute she saw her leave through the side door. It was known the girls would run after each other at any chance possible, even during moments when they weren't as close.

"Hey- Riley, I'll be back I'm just gonna go get a drink." She stood knowing what she was doing was stupid. Inviting a girl to a bar, and then chasing after another was bad. Trust me, Le'ana knew.

"Do you want me to come with you?" The naive girl questioned, despite the fact she knew Le'ana's cup was still half full.

"No, it's fine." She brushed off Riley. Part of Le'ana felt bad, she had invited the girl out to have fun and spent the past few days entertaining her with no harmful intent. Yet, her mind always wandered back to someone else.

Her blue eyes managed to portray more emotion than her lips could ever say. Le'ana knew that, after all, she spent a long time looking at Paige's lips longing for contact with them. She stood above Le'ana's gaze most of the time due to her height, but she wouldn't mind having neck pains for the rest of her life if it meant she got to look up at Paige. Some days, in the three weeks she'd known the girl, Le'ana would find herself wondering what she did to be able to meet Paige. How was she allowed to exist in the same universe as her?

Le'ana followed out of the same side door Paige exited, hoping she hadn't walked too far yet. Her bright, blonde hair made it obvious the girl was only a few metres ahead of Le'ana. Her head was slightly slumped as she focused on getting back to her room. What Le'ana hadn't realised, as she attempted to organise her emotions was a droplet falling onto her face. Le'ana glanced up to see a plethora of raindrops finding itself prepared to fall, soaking her hair in the process. Somehow, her first thought was if she should go get Paige a jacket, knowing how easily she got sick. Neither girl wore a jacket but instead of turning around to find cover, Le'ana kept following Paige. It was now or never.

"Paige!" She shouted out multiple times before Paige stopped walking and turned around. This was so cliché.

Sighing, she spoke up. "Le, I'm tired. What do you want?" She spoke, aiming to not come off too annoyed with the girl in front of her. Paige, this was not the time for a new nickname. This was probably in fact the worst possible time.

"Can we-uh just talk? Please." She pleaded, wanting some form of clarity between the pair. Neither acknowledged the fact that it was raining as Paige nodded for Le'ana to continue.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there to answer your call. I know your knee is a big deal for you and I promised I'd be there to help you." Le'ana spoke up, genuine sorrow clouding her emotions. She still held slight confusion about why Paige was so upset, but a simple apology she knew would fix it all.

"Le'ana that's not it." Paige laughed out at how oblivious the brunette could be.

"What-"

"I'm upset you lied. You were with Riley the night I called, it's fine. We're fine, you could've just told me. I just-" Paige cut herself off before going too far. She turned around and continued to walk

"What Paige?" Le'ana followed, running after the girl.

"Nothing Le'ana go back inside its raining, you'll catch a cold." Even in moments of awkwardness or uncertainty, Paige made it evident she cared about Le'ana. That was probably the main reason the pair liked each other's company so much.

"Paige, look- if Riley is the problem-" Le'ana began before Paige cut her off.

"-Riley's not the problem! It's me! I can't sit here watching you laugh and enjoy yourself with her knowing it could be me." And... there it was. "If you choose her, it's fine. I get it. We never clarified anything after uh- that night. Just so you know, it's nice to see you happy. It suits you." She turned away again, prepared to spend the night in the company of her bed and tears.

"You think I'd pick Riley over you? You think I'd pick anyone over you? God Paige, I'm sorry but how stupid can you be? Every night I ask God what I did to deserve a lifetime where I'm in your presence. These past three weeks have been nothing but pure joy for me. Knowing you has been a blessing for me. Then- uh- then the night in bed happened and I saw you in a way like never before. But, Paige- I don't wanna be your little experiment."

"You won't be Le." Paige attempted to convince le'ana but it began to sound more like she was convincing herself.

"I'll be here once you figure it out," Le'ana muttered.

Walking away, both girls were content with how this night turned out. Le'ana had clarified herself, making it clear how she and Paige could develop whilst Psige was thinking of everything she could do to make sure Le'ana wasn't just an experiment. The group, unaware of what the girls had discussed, did pick up on the lack of both Paige and Le'ana in the room. The only person who got the worst of it was Riley.

"Hey, is the drink line long?" She spoke up, her high-pitched voice on display, to which KK rubbed her ears at the sound. Nika couldn't help but laugh before replying.

"Um- No. Why?" The pair met eyes in confusion.

"Le'ana's been gone a while." Riley hummed

"Oh, I think she went to the bathroom." Nika quickly attempted to cover up, once she realised the girl was chasing after Paige.

"Oh, Okay!" She cheered, peppy as ever. "There she is!" Riley smiled waving at Le'ana as she saw her walk in. Le'ana awkwardly waved back, making eye contact with Nika and KK who both raised their eyebrows suggestively. She simply whispered, "I'll tell you later." but by the smile on her face, it was obvious what occurred.

They were back.
