WHEN WE MET [Taekook]

13. Caught in a lie

As the song came to an end, applause filled the room, showering Jungkook with praise from the guests. Taehyung and his family quickly surrounded him, offering compliments and admiration for his performance.

"You sing just like Ian of BTS," Taehyung exclaimed excitedly, his smile infectious as those around him nodded in agreement. With determination in his eyes, Taehyung scanned the hall, to find Namjoon.

"Who is that?" Confusion clouded Jungkook's mind, as he thought  who is Ian but a sense of pride swelled within him at the sight of Taehyung's smile. However, overwhelmed by the sudden outpouring of compliments and affection, Jungkook could only manage an awkward smile in response.

Unaccustomed to being the center of attention, Jungkook felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him. He glanced at Taehyung, who was making his way out of the hall, and couldn't help but feel grateful for the encouragement and support of Taehyung.

In the beautiful ambiance of the garden, Taehyung and Namjoon strolled, engaged in light conversation. However, Taehyung's mind was elsewhere, consumed by the execution of his plan.

Catching sight of Jungkook and his twin cousins, he said, "Namjoon, I'll be back in a second."  He left Namjoon and approached Jungkook.

Taehyung leaned in, his voice low. "Nam-ra Sid-ra, your dad is calling you. Go!" he told them, ushering them away. Jungkook, familiar with Taehyung's tactics, sensed the deception immediately, recognizing the lie behind his words.

"Now what are you going to do?" Jungkook inquired.

Taehyung remained silent, he held Jungkook's hand and guided him beneath a nearby tree in the garden. There, they stood face-to-face, with Taehyung gripping Jungkook's shoulder firmly with both hands.

"Is he coming here?" asked Taehyung.

"Who?" Jungkook replied, puzzled.

"Namjoon"

Jungkook glanced past Taehyung and spotted Namjoon approaching. "Yes," he confirmed.

"Is he looking here?" Taehyung asked eagerly, taking a step closer to Jungkook, his eyes shining with excitement.

"Yes. You stay away from  me," Jungkook replied, his gaze on Namjoon as he panicked at their proximity.

Closing the gap between them, Taehyung drew near to Jungkook until their lips were merely a centimeter apart. The tip of their noses were almost touching. With his hands resting firmly on Jungkook's shoulders, In that intimate space, their breaths mingled, creating an electric tension in the air.

Sensing Taehyung's proximity, Jungkook experienced a whirlwind of emotions—excitement and nervousness intertwined, causing his heart to quicken its pace.

As he looked into Taehyung's eyes, Jungkook found himself lost in their depth. Taehyung's soft brown eyes held a captivating sparkle, with a hint of amber adding to their allure. His sun-kissed complexion and luscious lips only added to his irresistible charm. Before Jungkook could fully register his thoughts, Taehyung guided Jungkook's hands, placing them on his own waist.

There was only one thought occupying Taehyung's mind Taehyung, you have to do this to stop this marriage, there is no other way

Suddenly, Taehyung's soft pillowy lips pressed against Jungkook's cheek, leaving him momentarily stunned. This gesture  had Jungkook  panicking, his heart prancing, his face turning beet red, and his eyes growing double their size in absolute  astonishment. The unexpected gesture caught Jungkook off guard, his mind racing to comprehend the situation.

And just as swiftly, Taehyung enveloped him in a warm embrace, holding him tightly against his chest, and asked Jungkook, "Did he see?"

He didn't know how to react. But when it slowly registers to him what's happening,

Ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum
Ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum

His heart began to race, its beats echoing loudly in his ears, accompanied by an odd sensation in his chest. Surprisingly, the hug brought a sense of calm, washing over him like a soothing wave, causing his mind to go blank and his body to gradually relax.

He tried to move Taehyung away from him. When Taehyung didn't budge, he explained to Namjoon, saying, "Namjoon, he is just doing a drama." Now Namjoon was standing right behind Taehyung.

On hearing Namjoon's name, Taehyung did a happy dance in his mind and gasped out loud "Namjoon!" while keeping his hands on his mouth pretending to be shocked and surprised and stood beside Jungkook. He straightened his clothes though they weren't dishelved just to make Namjoon believe that they were doing something inappropriate.

On seeing Taehyung's antics, Jungkook panicked that Namjoon would now think that they were making out and said, "Look, Namjoon? What you are thinking is not true. He is just acting. Ask him."

"Yes. He is right, Namjoon. There is nothing between us. I swear! We are just friends. Nothing had happened between us, even in Seoul. Nothing  at all. Tell him  Jungkook," said Taehyung in a dramatic tone.

Jungkook just looked at Taehyung with his mouth shut. He is sure that by listening to Taehyung, Namjoon will definitely think that he and Taehyung are lovers and something really happened between them.

One of the twins came there, interrupting  their conversation, and said, "Taehyungie Hyung, dad is telling me that he didn't call me."

"He is lying. I'll come with you", said Taehyung, and winked at Jungkook playfully  and went from there happily, leaving Jungkook and Namjoon in awkwardness.

Namjoon was hurt and was about to go from there, but Jungkook stopped him.

"Listen hyung! You are mistaken. There is nothing between me and Taehyung. We didn't even meet in Seoul. He was just  acting," said Jungkook, trying to clarify things.

"I might not be as smart as you, but I have eyes, I am not blind,"  said Namjoon, gesturing to his eyes with two fingers. His heart ached not because Taehyung had found love elsewhere, but because Taehyung didn't tell him about it. Despite harboring only a childhood crush on Taehyung, Namjoon found solace in the fact that his feelings hadn't deepened into love, sparing him from intense pain. Instead, he embraced the idea of Taehyung's newfound love and eagerly anticipated his own journey towards finding love, he also wanted to experience  love. With these sentiments in mind, he made his way into the mansion to halt their marriage.

Jungkook shook his head in amusement at Taehyung's playful antics, but deep down, his mind was still consumed by thoughts of Taehyung. The memory of Taehyung's soft kiss lingered on his cheeks, along with the intoxicating scent that enveloped him. His heart pounded loudly as he remembered his encounter with Taehyung. "What's happening to me?" he wondered, feeling confused by these new feelings. He couldn't help but notice the fluttery sensation in his stomach whenever Taehyung was near, but he quickly admonished himself, Jungkook, don't overthink it. With that mantra in mind, he retreated to his room, repeating the phrase to stop the swirling thoughts.

Unknown to anyone, a pair of eyes had been observing the scene. As the conversation ended, he came out of the branches where he was hiding and listening. With a sly smirk, he watched Jungkook's figure disappear from view.
