Nothing but a tear, that's all for breakfast
Watching you pretend you're unaffected
You're pulling our connections, expecting me to let you go
But I won't

No you don't need my protection
But I'm in love, can't blame me for checking
I love your direction, hoping that the message goes

Somewhere close to you
Close to you
Like so close if they hurt you, you wouldn't find out
Just say now, I'm coming right now, to be close to you

Said you let it go, you kept it
Working hard to perfect it
Now your fear is reckless, and it's out of your control
Would you let it go?

No you don't need my protection
But I'm in love, can't blame me for checking
I love your direction, hoping that the message goes

Somewhere close to you
Close to you
Like so close if they hurt you, you wouldn't find out
If you let me, I'd be there by now
Close to you

You Make Me Crazy

It had been the longest three days of both Carlie and Trenton's adult life. They hadn't said a word to each other, and both of them were still angry about what had happened. With each passing moment, they wanted to call back and fix what they'd said, but both of their pride levels were entirely too high. So they waited. No one texted, no one called, no one video chatted. It was the break they agreed on having.

Trenton sighed as he stepped off his plane, and said a silent prayer, hoping Carlie still wanted to pick him up. He missed her, and he had so much to tell her about what he'd learned. But they needed to talk too. Trenton regretted ending things with how they ended, but he figured that was what she wanted, she just couldn't get it out. It hurt him that she didn't trust him around her daughter, but he understood her concern. He just wished she trusted him more.

"Hey, you," Trenton suddenly heard as his head snapped up. There she was by baggage claim, waiting for him.

"Hey," Trenton replied as he grabbed his bag, walking over to her.

"How was your flight?" Carlie asked as he stood, towering over her.

"Uhm... hard," he nodded. Carlie winced. She'd felt the same way for the past few days.

"I know," she huffed as she grabbed his free hand, and they walked.

"How... uhm," he cleared his throat. "How has your week been?"

"Trent," whined Carlie as she stopped walking and looked up at him. "We don't have to be this way."

"Well, we kinda ditched each other for this week, so..." he trailed.

"A-are you still free tonight?" She blurted.

"I am," he nodded as she sighed a sigh of relief.

"Would you feel okay with— uhm talking over dinner still?"

"Yeah, definitely. Do you have a place in mind, or...?"

"I was thinking my place," she winced as she watched his eyes widen. "It's okay, really. I had someone take care of Doug for now, and he hasn't broken into it. I went by today, and the super was willing to get a doorman and he installed cameras in the hallways. I'll be safe for awhile."
