Hey guys, this is the very first chapter entirely in Liam's POV because some of my friends were wondering about Liam's feelings. The joke about Liam's privates WAS NOT BY ME (blame Kristie *sighs, rolls eyes, shakes head*) Please excuse any typos or grammar mistakes. I'll admit, I wasn't entirely coherent when I wrote this (since I know my lovely readers wanted me to update more quickly). I'll do spellcheck and editing tomorrow. Now, please enjoy, comment, and vote! Thanks guys! I love ya! ;)

P.S. Don't forget to read "Be Your Burden" (bakerscoyne).

CHAPTER SIX: IN MY ARMS…

LIAM'S POV

I jerked awake in the semi-darkness as the alarm clock beside me beeped shrilly. It was 6:30 in the bloody morning, "I'm up, I'm up," I mumbled. I slammed a hand on top of the alarm clock, shutting it off, and rubbed my eyes blearily. Groaning, I slid out of my warm bed and scrambled to get ready for more traveling.

Someone knocked on the door softly, and I stumbled to the door. I opened it reveal Paul. "Just checking if you're up," he said softly. "Because we do have to get going." He peered in my room. "Make sure you've packed everything. I'll be back to grab the bags," he said dismissively as he walked away to wake the other lads. Yawning, I got dressed and packed everything. I peered at Elaina's bed and smiled to myself. She was sleeping peacefully, wrapped in her covers like a puppy. Paul walked back in, "Are you guys ready?" He asked. He frowned slightly at the still sleeping Elaina.

“I’m going to carry her to the bus,” I whispered, before he could ask. “It was a long night and she still has a bit of a jetlag.” I looked back at the sleeping Elaina. There was finally no pain etched in her face as she slept soundly. Her face was serene, relaxed, without that crinkle in her brow. I liked it when she looked peaceful; in sleep, Elaina looked whole. Unbroken. And I didn’t have the heart to wake her up and see the pain so deeply imprinted upon her eyes. “Could you ask Kristie to come in here and pack her bags for her?” I nodded at her suitcase. “I really don’t want to wake her,” I explained. Paul nodded and left the room. I leaned down and brushed a strand of her hair off her face. Why are you so broken? I silently addressed her sleeping form. Who is the dick that hurt you? I sighed softly and gazed down at her in wonder. Seriously, what you have you done to me? I asked her silently. I think about you all the time. Onstage, late at night, through the day. I just want to hold you and tell you that everything will be alright. Just hold you tight and tell you nothing is going to hurt because I will protect you. I want to protect you. I confessed in my head. Keep all the bad guys away. Keep the storms away. Whatever scares you. I added firmly. Even if that whatever is falling in love, I will show you how to be unafraid. Because I’ve never felt this way toward anyone before. And I will fight for you.

“I swear, Payne, if you hurt her, I will cut off your ten inch and feed it to a gorilla,” a voice interrupted my rambling, internal monologue. I turned around to face Kristie.

“What makes you think I’ll hurt her?” I protested quietly, as Kristie started to pack up Elaina’s things.

She glared at me, “That’s what the dickhead before you said and look what happened to her!” she loudly whispered, careful not to wake Elaina up.

“I promise I will not hurt Elaina,” I said quietly. She scanned my face carefully.

Her face softened “Huh, you really like her,” it wasn’t a question, but a comment.

I didn’t let my face betray anything. “That’s for me to decide,” I murmured.

She nodded and finished packing up Elaina’s things. Then she laughed. “Your ten inch is safe,” she said, walking out the door. “For now,” she added, her laughter rang softly as she walked away, lugging Elaina’s suitcase. I shook my head at her retreating back and walked back to the sleeping Elaina. I leaned down and gently picked her up. She gave a soft sigh of protest.
