Alfie's POV

She looked at me with eyes bewildered. Maybe, Zoe was wrong. And maybe, I made a mistake. "I-I'm sorry."

"Don't talk to me." She crossed her arms.

"Jade, please. I'm so--"

"Just.. Go home, Alfie." I looked into her eyes that were filled with pain and truth.

Jade's POV

I led him towards the door. And after exchanging a quick glance, he made his way out.

Tears escaped my eyes as I saw Carrie walk in to check on me.

"He kissed me."

"He kissed you?" Carrie's jaw dropped open in shock. "That means---"

"I know what you're thinking, Carr. But I can't. I can't do that to Zoe. After all, first come, first serve, right?"

"Jade, all is fair in love and war. Don't give me any of this first come, first serve crap. He likes you, and you like him. He's single, you're single. You're in the clear, J. Everything was made to work out."

"No it wasn't. And no matter what you say, it won't change what I think."

"You were always a stubborn one." She smirked.

"I am not."

"Yes you are."

Alfie's POV

"Thanks a lot, Zoe. I think she just hates me now."

"What happened?" She asked as I slummed into my couch.

"Well. I kissed her. That's a first. And, she still thinks that you and I are dating. She's just.. Delusional."

"You kissed her?!" Zoe squealed.

"Oh, don't start."

"Well, you kissed her! How am I not going to be happy for you?"

"It wasn't good, Zoe. She didn't like it. After I kissed her, she kicked me out of the house."

"I'll go talk to her." She made her way towards the door.

"Don't." She turned, giving me a confused look, "If you go, I have a feeling it'll just make things worse."

"Oh. I-I'm sorry."

"I just don't know what to do anymore. How do I convince her that you and I don't exist?"

"It's like we'd actually have to date and then break up for her to see that." Zoe laughed.

"But.. That's genius." A smile spread across my face."

"Alfred, you wouldn't."

"Oh, but I would."

"It's not going to get you anywhere, Alfie!"

"Zoe, would you be my girlfriend?" I smiled jokingly.

She groaned, "Do I actually have to do this?"

"Just for two weeks! To make it seem real! After that, you can go back to Marcus. It'll all be fine. I'll even tell Marcus myself."

"You knew I liked him?"

"Well, it's quite obvious now, isn't it?"

"I tried to be discreet."

"You weren't discreet enough." I laughed.

Jade's POV

Dan and Phil had left, leaving Carrie and me alone for some girl time.

She scrolled through her twitter feed on her laptop before quickly slamming the device shut. She threw the MacBook pro aside, and turned on the telly.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing." She flipped through the channels, "Just nothing." She smiled at me.

"I'm pretty sure there's something on twitter that jittered you a bit." I pulled
out my phone and clicked the twitter app.

"Jade, don't."

"I'm scrolling through my newsfeed now. After all, we pretty much follow the same people."

"Jade--" She ran up to me, and pried my phone from my hands. "Listen to me. It's pointless. It's nothing."

"Liar." I pulled my phone from her hands, and scrolled.. I saw Alfie's latest tweet.. It was a picture of him and Zoe labeled, 'Hanging out with my girlfriend'

"I'm so sorry, J."

"I knew it. What did I tell you? They're an item. I knew it."

Alfie's POV

"You sure this is going to work?" I asked Zoe.

"You're so stupid sometimes."

"Why am I being stupid?" I laughed.

"Because I was joking! I didn't mean for you to actually do this! This is only going to make things worse! It would have been fine if you actually just let me talk to her."

Carrie's POV

Jade needed time alone, and that was what I was going to give her. She needed her space-- time to think.

I walked next door to Alfie's, to ask about what was actually going on. I knew he could never stoop so low. He's too nice.. too loving.. too caring to hurt anyone's feelings because he's just too.. Alfie.

I knocked on the door, "Alfred!" Knocking, "Alfie! Zoe? Hello?" I continued, "It's Carrie!" Alfie opened the door, and I rushed right into his home. He shut the door behind me. "What is going on?" I asked, straight to the point.

"Well, I'm dating Zoe."

"Oh don't give me that bull-crap, Alfred. You and I both know that that's not true."

"What's so wrong about dating her?" Alfie crossed his arms. "What's it to you? It's none of your concern, Carrie. After all, it's my life. I can date whoever I want. You're not my mother, Carr." He began to make his way towards the kitchen, but I followed.

"But what about Jade? How could you do that to her?"

"Do what?" He asked.

"You kissed her!" I exclaimed angrily. "That's saying something, Alfie."

"I just got caught up in the moment. The kiss meant nothing." He said to me as he poured himself a glass of lemonade from a pitcher.

"You're lying."

"I'm not." He sipped.

"Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't feel something for her."

He looked me in the eyes, "I don't feel anything for her." He then took another drink, and in this moment I questioned who I was really friends with. He could never be like this. He's either talking about someone else, or he's an excellent liar. I just knew-- I felt it in my gut, that he wasn't telling the truth.

"Second thought, Alfie. Look me in the eyes and say you don't feel anything for Jade."

"Is that what you really want?" He asked, and I nodded my head. "That's all you need."

"Yup."

He looked me in the eyes, "I don't feel anything for--" He looked down, unable to finish the sentence-- choking on his own words.

"I thought so."
